Yeah, he will go very close one would think.

Good to see Medders, Bryan & Shaw also in the bests. Apparently, Jimmy Clement was all class down back aswell :thumbsu:

From what I hear maybe not. It may have been the other Cook.

anyone got the stats on medders? surely he is in line for selection

I watched the reserves and seniors play. Sean Rusling was very good. We need him back in the side before the finals. Chris Dawes moves well around the ground. Nicholls and Wellingham were very good in the midfield. The scoresheet says it all.

I liked Chris Bryan's workrate, he gave a good contest in the ruck and presented well in the forward line, was the dominant ruckman on the day IMO.

Paul Medhurst worked very hard up the ground, he got his hands on the ball and he pushed forward and presented well.

Rhyce Shaw linked well through the midfield. Run and carry was first class all day.

Danny Stanley and Sam Iles played defensive roles for most of the day, but they moved Stanley into the midfield in the third term and his attack on the ball was good.

Ben Reid impressed me. I think he might be a chance next week, if not in the coming weeks, he works harder than a few forwards in the seniors (cough, Anthony Rocca, cough).

Ben Davies found some space and he was very good in the last term.

Shannon Cox and James Clement held their own in the backline.

Brodie Holland didn't play any part of the second half - a troubled achilles injury will keep him out for another few weeks.

Adam Cook kicked 5 goals, and he was one of the better players, not Ryan Cook.

How much time did Dawes spend on the ground? And how was Wellingham? I know he played Willi reserves, but out of all our mids in the seconds he seems to fit the type we need most. An inside mid that is quick and skilled.

Dawes - 65% TOG

He was on and off at times as well as Sean Rusling. We were monitoring his gametime.

Wellingham - 80% TOG

Has been very good all year. Surely has more to offer than a Licuria or Lonie.

I saw a bit of the reserves and seniors, rusling moved and looked okay.

Dick was very good, wellingham took at least 2 very good grabs and generally was ok.

Brown was good but it was pretty easy out there for them.

So all the young guys done their bit.

According to what someone heard Gotch say on 3AW, Medhurst played around the midfield and got 27 touches. I think if he works his ass of he has potential in this area of the ground.

Unlucky for Brown and Limbo (who's been playing back recently) that Clement was back.

I'd even go out on a limb and give Nicholls a go, Johnson can rest. We need to make a decision on him, his WCE was not enough to tell us anything about his AFL potential. (Although I think with Rusling back there aren't enough players on the LTI list).

Ins - R.Shaw, Clement, Medhurst, Bryan
Outs - Pendlebury, Wakelin, Licuria, Richards

And a possibility for Cook/Dick for Johnson
willy have got a bye next week so shaw and clement will have to be in if they want game time into them

You seriously want to play Bryan AND Richards? In fact, do you seriously want to play EITHER of them? Haven't you learned yet - neither of them perform at senior level.

Soory, I was so stunned at the Bryan thing I didn'r read your outs properly. Delete the first line and the rest stands. These two seem to take it in turns to perform horribly in the one's then well at Willie.

frazer is like he is now because he has been soloing and been r*ped in the ruck too much, bryan at least tries to kill players

I went and watched the 1's and 2's and heard Gotchy on 3AW on the way home.

Was really impressed with the 2's probably moreso than the 1's actually. Just because of Dawes and Rusling and the way they went about it. Dawes worked really hard defensively as well as offensively and it showed he has more to his game than a contested grab. Rusling was just a class above. There was one contest where the ball came in to the forward line to the advantage of 2 Frankston guys who were standing a metre or two to the right of Rus and he beat them both for the mark. He had heaps of marks and sprayed a couple of shots but he had a lot of opportunities. Great closing speed when tackling as well.

The other person I was impressed with was Dick. He showed a lot of poise and I was thinking during the game how good he will be when he gets some meat on his bones.

Browny started down back but after getting on top of them early it was evident that he wouldn't get much of a sniff in our backline. He went to CHF and was the middle man on alot of occasions, getting the ball from the mids and moving it on to Rus and Dawes. One criticism I do have, and its probably very harsh but he seemed to shirk the contest a little. Looked fine when he was out on a lead.

Now for the 1's
Medhurst played well up the ground running up around the wing for his kicks but looked good.

Bryan looked good in the ruck and even better around the ground. Can take a mark and had a couple of shots from 55m out.

Ryan Cook played very defensively but still offered the team a little bit of drive. He had the job on Marigliani (kicked 6 last week) early and spent the 2nd half on Justin Berry. Adam Cook kicked 5.

Rhyce got a lot of the ball and he ran and carried. Broke the lines and the Frankston guys were bouncing off him but he had a couple of really bad clangers probably just due to the fact he hadn't steadied up and taken a bit more time. Gotchy said he had 22 touches and 7 inside 50's.

Jimmy was nursed back into action. He played on a young kid that has a fair bit of talent but had his measure simply with his experienced body. Gotchy said he had 11 touches but he was defensively sound as well.

Brodie looked alright early. Had a fair bit of it and wasn't afraid to take them on and have a run. Gotchy said he had 14 touches up until half time but didn't take any further part in the game.

Coxy looked really good early. He is very composed and backs himself in the contest. He was like Clement in that he was rather sound defensively but I thought he offered more run, particularly early.

Reid looked good. Got to alot of contests and won the ball in quite a few of them. Was unselfish in front of goal as well. Would say maybe half of Patty Rose's goals came from Ben.

Stanley looked good especially when he pushed forward. Seems to have a natural hunger for goal.

gotch also said that holland had broken down again with his achilles injury

Shaw got a lot of the ball but sprayed it around so I don't think he's quite ready to return to the side just yet. Clement doesn't look at all match fit yet so I would think he needs at least one more game at Williamstown before going back into the seniors. Medders on the other hand was close to our best player so would have to come back for the Carlton game. Bryan was very good in the ruck but I think he has found his level playing VFL.

I think Rhyce did enough. Agree with Clement but its hard to tell what they will do with Willi having the bye next week. Maybe he could play for a team in the SFL.
