Delpotro actually played pretty well Ferrer just too good. If he plays like he did last night can see him beating Murray.

Normally I'm of the opinion that Ferrer is just a grinder, but I don't think I've ever seen him play as well as he did last night (albeit I really only see him come AO and Wimby). I definitely expect him to push Murray.

Also, despite her loss last night, I'd argue Lisicki is actually a more measured version of Jarka, she still has a way to go though if she wants to win a slam.

Disagree, she is very close, but like all the girls, does need a good draw, Kerber was probably the worst player for her to face, similarly that Sharapova was the BEST person Lisiki could have drawn. Lisiki has the game and now she is finally over the injuries, and she will reach a slam final in 12 months.

Have not been able to follow Wimbledon since Sunday as I headed to Europe. Just arrived in London this morning and in a couple of hours I will be heading to Wimbledon and Centre Court. Will give you guys a review when I can. Hopefully a couple of cracking matches!

Sounds awesome mate, have fun!

The roof was built for Andy Murray, and Andy Murray only.

Seriously though, AO leaves every other slam for dead in terms of organization and general common sense. 'The Players Slam' :thumbsu:

Absolutely delusional these english tournament officials i know they are on about tradition and keeping it an outdoor tournament but it has been raining for what 9 days now you would think these clowns would have a bit more common sense and use the roof for the purpose they built it for..

hasn't rained like it used to be known there (up until about 2006ish) where rain would often pretty much wash out days. i the recent days have been the first time wimbledon seriously tested has been tested in terms of completing the schedule on a large scale for a while. but i agree, you built the roof to have continued play, ffs use it

Youzhny had nothing. Would construct a nice point and then get beaten badly on it or make a wild miss.

Im not keen on starting a new topic, but in terms of best grass court tennis players in the last 20 years: Where do people rank: Goran Ivanisevic?

He was desperately unlucky to play in the era of Pete Sampas's reign. Goran's serve could not be broken, and neither could Pistol Pete's, with Pistol Pete winning that argument.

We thought Goran was finished, before he made one more splash and confirmed to everyone that he had the game to win a grand slam title, and in the form of Wimbledon too

I think he would rate at number 5 as best grass court player of the last 20 years. 1 Sampras 2 Federer 3 Becker 4 Agassi 5 Goran

Anyone but Andy Murray! Don't care who as long as it's not Andy. I'd prefer Roger over Novak though.

Murray was hitting the ball sweetly in the second set last night

The way he played last night is the reason why he's won ATP tournaments. But the reason why he doesnt win a Grand Slam: Mental toughness, and whether or not his heart is in it

Edit : Gotta love that one handed backhand of Kohlschreiber

Murray really should have lost the first two sets easily 5-2 5-3 down in both. The only time he puts his foot down and becomes the agresser is when he is behind and has to. Against top line players fed rafa and djoker it would have been curtains for him. When he starts playing that stupid drop shot you know what sort of mindset he is in.

The bloke is such a sook, its ridiculous. I was kind of hoping Ferrer could go on with it, I sort of saw the match on and off though because I'm not feeling the best and fell asleep. Really hoping Jo can get up. I think he might make it to the final, but I'm gonna be barracking for Tsonga.

I'd give anything to ensure Federer wins this tournament. It would be by far the best of his career.
  • End grand slam drought of over 2 years
  • 7th Wimbledon title (drawing level with Sampras)
  • Reclaim top spot and therefore break the record for total weeks at number 1
With Djokovic in his prime and Federer nearing his 31st birthday, he'd need to produce a phenomenal performance to even reach the final. I can't see it happening unfortunately.

Would be a perfect bookend to his career, though I can't see it happening either.
