It's funny how tennis draws work. After losing in qualifying, tomic gets a spot as a lucky loser and faces a qualifier in the opening round. That qualifier also happens to be a lucky loser and Bernie is a set away from the second round.

The dry hot, windy conditions have helped us so far even if Barty was tight as anything in that first set. Reminds me of when I was there in 2013 of hot and dry it was, I am expecting Sam to lose still but she made the third round and had a close match with Lisicki (eventual finalist) so at least the hot conditions help.

Was thinking the same thing. Other players who slogged their way through qualifying cop a seed and are bundled out first round only to see Bernie (probably) cruise through to the second round. Must be frustrating at times.
