This pic reminded me of one of Grêmio's greatest moments.

In 1996, Gremio won the National Championship. We had finals back then. The winning goal (85th minute) was scored by the supporters' favourite whipping boy, Aílton (whom I kept defending the entire season, but I digress).

He scored and refused to be hugged by his teammates. Instead, he ran straight to the members' stand screaming:

— I am f*ck*ng good! I am f*ck*ng good! Applaud me now! Applaud me now!

I was there. The replay of his goal still gives me goosebumps...

Ripper goal!

Both Wingard and Gray can be brilliant in the midfield but they are very different.
Gray dodges and weaves qhereas Wingard has that ability to find players.

Wingard matches up well in a midfield with one of the young bulls plus Rockliff.

His move to the midfield has rounded out the unit perfectly, and they're absolutely dominating.

+17 clearances this week after +14 last week. We've been strong since Ryder, Rocky and SPP came back fit and firing but we're just dominating now. Wingard adds a stack of class and creativity.

Melbourne are another team that have been a really good clearance side so we've got the opportunity to take another scalp next week.

His mojo is returning. To think it wasn't that long ago in the words of some he was chubby and unfit. Wow , did you see his metres gained? Love it. He likes the work I am feeling.

He just wants prime time, we all know he plays his best then.

I know we all see the game in different ways but I’m staggered more didn’t have him best last night. Every possession seemed to open the game right up. One of the highest hurt factor games in recent memory.

I miss the old Wingard
Score lots of goals Wingard
Foot candy sold Wingard
AA at 20 years old Wingard

I hate the new Wingard
Doesn’t know what to do Wingard
Always pass never shoot Wingard
Oh, if only you knew Wingard
Old Wingard is back!

Ken should now get in his ear and tell him to be a little selfish around goal. No point passing it, given wingard is a better kick than 90% of our forward's kicking ability.

Agree 100%, apparently he was given a spray a few weeks back for being selfish and he's got the shits and over corrected. Been numerous times lately that he's given off when he shouldn't have. I miss selfish Chad.

Definitely looked less puffy last night.

Do you think the coaching group will leave Chad in the middle for an extended run? We are able to clear congestion so much more quickly and cleanly when he is there. I think if Thomas can stay in the forward line and do well that gives us enough x-factor there to leave Chad where he is.

I like Wingard in the middle with bulls like Wines, Rocky, SPP and then having the class of Robbie Gray up forward as well as Sam Gray bobbing up with some goals and Thomas annoying the crap out of the other teams defenders.

Return of Clutch Wingod today! Hope to see more of that before the end of the year

Not sure if it was Janus or Feel that said it, but it looks like he has put on mass that would allow him to roll through the midfield and not get pushed off the ball. Problem is, it all happened in a single pre-season (listed as 81kg 2017 to 85kg in 2018) and his body is struggling to catch up. Its why that side step isnt there, its why that leap isnt there. He isnt fat, nor unfit, his body just needs to adjust to the extra weight he now is pulling.

He will come good, he is too good not to. It will, however, take either him to drop the mass or another pre-season for his body to catch up IMO

Interesting numbers. Same height as Chad/Robbie myself and I’ve gone in exactly the opposite direction weight wise in the last 3 months - now have quite a bit more time to eat pastries after my 7km runs ;)

That comment about us not being elite kickers... whew. What we actually aren’t, Chad Robbie Rocky and very few others excluded, IMO Bonner & Doogs will be in the category “when they grow up”, is elite decision makers. The game plan as I understand it from Janus Hinkley’s descriptions, requires elite decision making first and foremost.
