Not sure if this has been discussed already, but just wondering if we beat Freo would our second round match be on free to air or not. Also wondering if anyone knew what time the 'derby'was on foxtel on Friday?

Im pretty sure we don't want to win and go to Darwin. As to whether that game is on free-to-air, I guess it depends who the winner plays. If they play a big Melbourne club then probably. If they don't then maybe not.

Id say that given there will be less Wizard Cup games in the next round all would be on free to air

Certainly would have been the case back when & had the rights anyways

I guess your right with the recovery from the heat and travel. The less travel this time of year the better, still i dont know if i will be happy to lose in the heat of the battle against the dockers.

I'd bet my house on the Darwin game being ignored by the FTA networks and Foxtel covering it. Foxtel only have 4 games in the first round, which means they've got 1 more to cover. London to a brick it's the Darwin game.

It will most likely be against the winner of the Adelaide v Port game, so its a monty for Fox. After all, why broadcast a game between and Adelaide team and a Perth team into Perth and Adelaide when you can broadcast something like Richmond v St Kilda?

Just checked Foxtels online guide, and their coverage of the eagles game here in Victoria only starts at 10:30pm (game starts 7:40 melb time).

The winner of the eagles - freo game plays the winner of the Pies - Tigers game, at Marrara Oval (thats ACT isn't it?). Wizard Cup draw

Marrara Oval = Darwin
Manuka Oval = Canberra

West Coast never get a run on free-to-air TV in Melbourne anyway, so I wouldn't be surprised if the first time we're seen on free-to-air will be Round 5 against Brisbane at the GABBA, which will be a live Sunday 1pm match.

This is only the start of it.
Better start saving your loot for Foxtel folks.

I must say that I enjoy Foxtel much better than free to air because they don't go to the ads after a goal. I really enjoy seeing the boys congratulate each other and often a fair bit goes on after the goal that free to air misses.
For $15 a week I reckon Foxtel is a bargain.

do you get afl games on the basic foxtel package these days? or do you need to fork out 100 bucks a year for the afl channel...

Foxfooty is included in the basic $44/month pacakge now.

On launch in 2002 it was $12/month on top of normal foxtel subscription.
