Wonaeamirri out for indefinite period

Just heard on SEN that Wonna has been granted indefinite leave to go back home to be with family in Tiwi Islands.
Death of his dad and his mentor in Maurice Rioli have been the major factors.

This might explain the reason that he has been short of that spark and has been down on form of late .

Good luck Wonna. See you back asap.:thumbsu:

Re: Wanna on leave

rohan and clint say hello, he doesnt want to be there delist him, and i have no doubt they will, as for fools like like the guy at the top, you were a staunch failey follower.

Re: Wanna on leave

That's not the right attitude, and won't be the attitude the club employs, we should support him through this.
For how long, he will be delisted by the end of the season, AFL is over for him, that twice this year , im sorry for his loss but hes finished, we need hard desperate players and he doesnt fit that mould, the writing was on the wall.

I think he will be delisted too - just a little callous in the delivery.

Hopefully he gets through it, but he probably won't and he loses and we lose.

I ope he gets through it as well, its been a tough 7 months for him, his hearts not there, time delist and recruit someone that will take his place, we need desperate uncompromising ruthless animals wearing our jumper, AKA, trenners and tapscott, all the best for the future aussie.

Re: Wanna on leave

Hopefully he can get his head right in time for finals... oh wait.

If your heart isn't in playing then you aren't much use to the club on-field. In terms of if he is retained or not would largely depend on if he can recover the drive it takes to be a professional footballer.

I don't think it is fair to take crack shots at him, he has tried to soldier on but is going through the motions.

Have to feel for him, I hope he can have som rest away from football and come back better than ever.

Unfortunately I have a feeling he will come back horribly out of shape or he won't come back at all.

I hope he doesn't turn into another talent gone to waste.

Re: Wanna on leave

I agree, I thought he was finished last year when I watched him play against Werribee and that's before the personal problems that he's had.

He simply doesn't like the training side of things, he's come back unfit nearly every year. He doesn't put in the hard yards.

Due to his personal circumstances I would rookie list him, but knowing how soft Melbourne are they will keep him on the list.

I now his dad died, i hope he gets better and has a great life, but he's not coming back.
Give him a chance, you're being presumptuous. He may well return in a week or two.

Or, granted, he might never come back.

Support him until we know more, you're a member so support your club's players in hard personal times.

Don't forget the smiles he gave us in '08 with his father and Stynesey.

do you see the point in your post, your dreaming of 08 and its 2011, were nearly 4yrs into a rebuild and were a laughing stock, we need a hard FD, at the rate were going they will be 6million in debt again , they need to listen to the supporters like the bombers did.

fair point, I'm just saying that this ain't the right guy to be getting pissed at just yeat. let's see it unfold

Ok,

Next post in this thread to break this rule will get a ban.
  1. Keep it civil. Remember these are real people you are talking to. Don't bag other people just for the hell of it. Keep your posts respectful of other people. Don't create new sock-puppet user accounts just to back yourself up in an argument or bully other people. Insults like ******, **** and ******* are particularly repugnant to many moderators. Don't bait or provoke negative responses or you may be hit for points as well. Frac: Warning to Mid

Hope he rediscovers the passion and hunger to play league footy again.
At his best he would be our best forward at applying defensive pressure which we could really use, also probably our best crumbing forward.

When posts are deleted, they're done so for a reason. Being smart and trying to challenge this will only bring you closer to a holiday.

Geez some people around here are bloody calous, and as someone who knows Aussie, I actually find it down right ****ing rude!

Does his position on the list really need to be discussed at this point in time.

Have some compassion for a guy who has given a lot to the MFC and is obviously battling at the moment.

I think Aussie will be back. He has a good life down here in Melbourne, and more than anything, both his dad and Maurice Rioli would want him doing what he loves and playing footy for the Dees, with some very good mates of his!

Good luck Aussie!

BUMP.

Wonna staying indefinitely/longer;

AUSTIN Wonaeamirri's 31-game AFL career is on hold after he told Melbourne officials yesterday he was not ready to return to the club.
The 22-year-old goalsneak went home to the Tiwi Islands in late May with a combination of injury and grief at the loss of his father Matthew and cousin Maurice Rioli late last year.

He has not pulled on a Melbourne jumper since the Round 8 loss to North Melbourne and is unlikely to play again this season.

Melbourne football manager Chris Connolly said the Demons were prepared to give him all the time he needed to get his body and mind right for the challenge of AFL football.

"With Aussie it's a combination of 100 different things and he wanted to come back to the Tiwi Islands and sort them out," Connolly said.

Not looking good for his future prospects with us I must say... Let's hope he's alright and can pull through though.
