Woosha Vs Malthouse

Some might have thought that resting Cousins and Peter Matera during the third quarter was a blunder. Similarly, starting Benny up forward. However, I thought the Pies might win after we played in the heat last week. Seeing the players cramp up against Freo and playing in a finals atmosphere I was really worried how we would back up. I thought Worsfold did well to rotate his small players to keep the run going.

McIntosh taken off, fair enough, but to take off Cousins and especially Peter Matera was a mistake IMO

in the end of the third quarter when the Pies started dominating around half forward, the experience of Peter Matera would have been invaluble.

another was playing Cox in the ruck when the game mattered most... he seems to play alright when we're dominating but lets be honest, he hasnt got the build to play as a ruckman just yet and thats why we should consider bringing Sierra in next week

Resting Cuz and Matera is fair enough but not at the same time?? Still its only his second game and he is entitled to a few mistakes. Cousins not starting in the middle was more strange than a mistake, i still dont know why Whoosha wants him to become more of a forward? Fair enough he has kicked a goal in both games this season but his drive out of the middle is gone?

i think Woosha is trying to make it so that Cousins isnt our only midfielder as he was last year... fair enough idea but i dont think he should make moves like that unless we're playing a team and we're 6+ goals up

Cousins is and always will be an integral part of our midfield and should be played there when it matters most

Exactly! I dont mind if were up and we rest Cousins up forward while young Kerr, Judd etc get there chance in the middle but Cousins should still play every game in the midfield.

This may sound ridiculous but I sometimes wonder how much influence Woosha had in the Eagles good performances when Malthouse was the coach. It may be a coincidence but the Eagles during Malthouse era played much better football when Woosha acted as some kind of an assistant coach in the field. When he was injuried and specially when he left, the Eagles good performances dwindled away. And there is another coincidence. Carlton's performances have been disastrous this year. Today they got beaten at home by 78 points. I wonder if Woosha had a greater influence in the way Carlton played last year than most people think.
