Hogg's stats are superior to Vettori

Yeaah but id rather have Vettori as i think he is more economical. Hogg bowls a gem of a wrongun though.

Graeme Smith is a tad unlyucky id say, i put Jayasuriya slightly ahead of him as i reckon jaya is a bit more destructive?

Bond or is 8 wickets at 10.5 and economy about 3 not good enough

Even less, it's at 2.29.... amazing low, only to be outdone when Stuart Broad arrives.

not sure about Jayasuriya ahead of Smith, he's failed a couple of times in this tournie Jaya and the times he's failed the team has got 20-30 runs less than they should, Smith has been a bit more consistent for me.

You would expect Sanath to be more destructive than muppet but not necessarily so according to the stats. Jayasuriya has scored 303 runs average 50 with a strike rate of 104 while muppet has 332 runs (1 less innings) at a strike rate of 109. In Sanath's favour is that he has scored a ton while muppet has 4 50's + 1 forty.

Sanga has been a bit disappointing with the bat but probably the best keeper so you could have him in the order wherever was convenient according to other selections. I don't think we should confine ourselves to stats though. We must look at how the performances have impacted upon results, state of the wicket, whether game was reduced in overs, how the person coped with pressure etc.

1. Sanath Jayasuriya (bats as well as Muppet, but bowls...)
2. Matty Hayden (Super form)
3. Ricky Ponting (Also in Super Form)
4. Jacques Kallis (Minnow basher, but still steady against anyone, and bowls)
5. Stephen Fleming (World Cup specialist, dont care where he bats)
6. Adam Gilchrist (Still the most dangerous bat in ODIs, bonus he's a keeper!)
7. Scott Styris (How good is he going?)
8. Brad Hogg (Bowling well... strengthens the batting, as if it needs it!)
9. Lasith Malinga (The Slinger! Hard to watch, but effective)
10. Shane Bond (The Player of the Tourney, you watch)
11. Muttiah Muralidaran (Great bowler, no matter what you think of him)

4 seamers, 3 spinners, 8 bats. What a great side!

I thought SLCat was a bit heavy towards certain nations, but to be honest, they seem the only countries in it...

haha.

you can't call his team biased (which it wasn't, possibly Jayasuriya but that's it) then go and select Gilchrist who's had a terrible tournament.

:p

here's the best one so far, if we're picking the best performed players in a team of the tournament so far

Smith - South Africa
Hayden - Australia
Ponting - Australia
Sangakkara - Sri Lanka
Pietersen - England
....
....
Hogg - Australia
Bond - New Zealand
Malinga - Sri Lanka
McGrath - Australia

fill in the dots at 6 and 7.

one batsman, one all-rounder. not sure who to put there.

Styris deserves a mention.
To be honest, are we all rating Oram on his form against us in the CB series? Because I don't know his WC numbers but if it's solely on WC stats I would have thought there have been better players.
Gilchrist should definitely not be in there.

Correct team is:

1. Graeme Smith (he's been in too good form)
2. Matty Hayden (could substitute Jayasuriya here I suppose, feel like Haydos has been more destructive though - 66 ball ton against RSA the clincher)
3. Ricky Ponting (duh)
4. Kevin Pietersen (started sketchy, is coming good)
5. Paul Collingwood (man I hate this guy but he's too good to turn down)
6. Scott Styris (in amazing form)
7. Brendon McCullum (he's the best keeper at the moment)
8. Brad Hogg (I didn't want him in to start with but boy is he proving me wrong)
9. Lasith Malinga (wow.)
10. Shane Bond (best ODI bowler in the world)
11. Glenn McGrath (has surprised me a lot, thought he would get spanked around - could be left out for Murali)

dont need two allrounders? surely jayasuria could find a way in!

Please show me where I said his team was biased???

Gilchrist is averaging 50+ at a S/R of 98, and has the most runs in the tourney for a keeper... Sanga isnt close... Nixon, please... Niall O'Brien maybe!

Jaya>Smith
