Dunno about that - they have already tightened the purse strings with lower sign on and re-up fees, etc.

To me, it will be pretty surprising if the current LIV is still around in say 3 years.
I’m not going to upset if that’s the case. But the Saudis will try to get into any sport it seems. And liv have an open book in what they can try. PGA circuit is nearly set in stone

Next year's PGA schedule is reportedly going to be very different. Rolapp wants scarcity.

I noticed bigger promotions of future events during the coverage. Events , locations, previous winners. Simple. But good for a reminder of what’s ahead. Anyway good to see Colin back. Except a bit of a run from him

Morikawa is on two strikes with me.

1. The stupid booties he put on his stupid dog.
2. His petulant b/s last year about not owing anyone anything.

I'm not buying his play yet. Ball striking is fantastic, but he aint super long and his short game plus putting can be suspect. A lot needs to go right for him until he fixes how he chips.

Brian Rolapp, going to be interesting to see what changes he implements next year and the small buzz about "The Players Championship" in March, for a long time many people in the golfing world have voiced their opinion about the "The Players" becoming the "fifth" major in golf, many traditionalists have said "no" but not before giving it good thought.

In some ways I like tradition but sometimes when you look at growing the game on the PGA tour and what has transpired over the last 80 odd years I think making it the "fifth" major would make perfect sense. The strongest field in golf, a great course where the last three holes can make you or break you, champions and average players have won, so there is no leverage either way and long hitters & short hitters have all won there so again no advantage.

Its going to be discussed again but I feel its going to be more receptive in the next couple of years with the way golf around the world is going, the PGA tour needs a change, maybe a couple of changes, but their flagship event finally becoming a major and what that would do for golf in general would be a step in the right direction. Also a little known fact that the four current majors and none of them are run by the PGA Tour only signifies that its time to promote their tournament and take it to another level.

2027 would be a step in the right direction. What do you guys/girls think? 😃 :flagstick:

Absolutely not.

1. It hasn't been the strongest field in golf since the inception of LIV.
2. None of the 4 majors actively exclude players. The Players' does.
3. That it is owned by the PGA Tour only weakens its potential Major status.
4. I hate the idea that if it was to suddenly be nominated as a major, that past winners might backdoor themselves into an extra few majors. The whole point of winning a major is overcoming the weight of knowing you are trying to win a major. Hence there should be a lot of majors excluded from current major winners resumes. The first 10 or 20 Masters should be excluded on this basis.

It's just a stupid PR push from the dickheads at the PGAT. And Brandel.

I like Hideki's chances this week, but you might need an intervention on your backing of Ludvig. He stinks at the moment.

I don't mind Ryo at $101.

Yeah Ludvig's illnesses certainly haven't helped him but his closing weekend finish was a step in the right direction, guys that play well at Torrey Pines have done well here so it will be interesting to see how he goes this week, I think he'll go okay just quietly.

I looked at Ryo myself, he's been playing very good and at $101 that's a good price and nice bet Sidey, with all the rain since Monday this course will play longer, was very close to backing Scottie at $4 but never really contending here even with his good finishes + his very average starts lately meant I have to stick with my "buddy", "The Japanese ace".

More practice off the tee with his driving + he's very close to another win tells me not to jump off yet, no water to deal with is a plus, won here two years ago before damage to the course and Ludvig winning this tournament at Torrey Pines. Anyone else bet at the Genesis Invitational? Curious to see who people have backed, my friend Pres, anyone you liked this week?

Ryo -4 thru 10.

Of course I didn't back him.

And Scottie looking like he is going to have another sleepy start.

Scottie 5 over after 10 you don’t see that to often.
Play suspended due to darkness some players with 8 holes to play someone haas stuffed up the tee times

Pretty big news from DP giving conditional status to certain LIV players - not Rahm.

Great news for Smylie’s career.

Reckon it might be a big step towards some kind of deal between LIV and DP - even if it just leads to working together so the schedules can work side by side

Sorry TTS - I missed this as was still in shell shock from our 80 point hiding against the all conquering Dees at Casey Fields...

I had small bets on English, Straka and Aberg. Three made cuts but none threatened.

TBH I've been watching more of the NZPGA. It's probably the wrong thread for it but I think Paraparamu Beach wins my vote as the most underrated golf course in the Oceania region. Sublime venue.
