There's a fair bit to be humble when you're a touring pro who averages 288 yards off the tee. That is so so short. And before this week was sitting at 117th on Strokes Gained: Putting.

Quite extraordinary for him to come out and play like he did this weekend. Very much hope that he carries it on from here with a few more wins.

Interesting question. They are both currently exempt onto the Tour by way of Smith's 22 Players giving him a 5 year tour card and Rahm's 23 Masters giving him a 3 year card - but then their suspensions prevent them from using those exemptions.

A PGA win gives the winner a 5 year card - I wonder whether that would have applied to say Smith after he served his(presumably) one year ban? My guess is it would have given either Smith of Rahm an exemption - because the PGAT would want them back on tour.

It will be fascinating to see what Smith does next year. It will be the last year of his Open exemption into the majors and notionally the last year of his Players' exemption. So the latter would give him some level of status in the fall events if he cops a year from the last LIV event in August of this year. But would it be even worth his while to play the Fall events as he would be unlikely to earn sufficient points?

So maybe next year he tries to play a DP schedule on the back of sponsor invites and hopes to replicate what P Reed has done?
