There has only ever been two teams that folded/merged in the AFL and robert walls had a hand in coaching both of them

Fitzroy and the Bears

ask Shane Stremple what he thinks of Wallsy?

What the hell has so-called "folding/merging" got to do with how good or bad a coach is or isn't?

As far as I'm concerned, (and I've been watching Fitzroy since the 60's), Robert Walls was one of Fitzroy's best coaches. He was coach during one of our most successful eras where under his coaching, Fitzroy played in finals in 1981, 1983 and 1984, scoring some remarkable wins along the way, including a 150 point win over North Melbourne.

After two grand finals for one premiership at Carlton, he also coached the Brisbane Lions (at that time nicknamed the Bears) to their first ever final series in 1995.

I'm with western royboy. The worst coach I ever saw was Bernie Quinlan. Far worse than any of the other candidates mentioned here in my view.

Robert Walls. One of the biggest cancers to the game.

Notable contenders:

  • Robert and Tony Shaw
  • Tim Watson
  • Ken Judge
  • Neil Craig
I'd put Jeff Gieschen in there but if you compare how good a coach he was as to how he is running the AFLUA, he is one of the greatest coaches of all time... OF ALL TIME

It is with a very heavy heart that I submit the name......

Bernie Quinlan

end thread

sorry to say, but yes he is up there. but he does run 2nd to..............

GRANT THOMAS.

the biggest coaching spud theres ever been. had a great list, a tremendous list, a list that could beat anyone & everyone, but screwed them with his 'i know better than everyone else' attitude, his deplorable coaching when up against better tacticians like roos & williams & worsfold.
he had 3 years (04 to 06) that were his for the taking before geelong took over, and mucked it up.

/now end thread.

Peter Rohde was pretty average whilst he was with the Western Bulldogs. Damian Drum wasn't much better with Fremantle.

Calling Peter Rohde pretty average is a despicable slight on anyone with any beauty and everyone who ever aspired to be average.

What ever the line for average is Rohde was mine shafts below that standard.

He has also continued his illustrious career by taking another job with Port Adelaide that is obviously way above his skill set as he assists them into effective AFL receivership.

yep robert shaw. neil craig has made the finals every year as a coach except last year (and probably this year)

Is that you Robert? so glad you could join us.

Not Robert Walls. Just a Fitzroy supporter who's watched a hell of a lot of games that Walls has coached. You?

Seeing that you failed to answer my question the first time, I'll ask you again.
