Worst afl player you've seen (and why)

Pretty sure Firrito is the reason the OP asked for the worst player to reach 50 games.

Because the worst player to reach 100, 150, 200 and 250 games is clearly Firrito.

The most overrated player. On the north boards they talk like he is Michael Voss or Buddy Franklin. A putrid player.

Xavier (Pick #5, 2001 National Draft) was meant to be good, but Raph was meant to be better (Pick #8, 2003 National Draft). Xavier got wrecked by injury after a promising start (I recall the Saints made a big fuss about the retiring Nathan Burke giving X the #3 mid-season, because he was "the future"). Raph also had plenty of injuries, but never lived up to his potential or draft position either.

Xavier Clarke in a team with proper injury management would've been an absolute freak. He was so good until about 2005 when it started to unravel fast with constant hamstring injuries under Grant Thomas to a number of key players that i still believe could have won us the 2005 flag.

By the time Ross came in he was unraveling fast and there was no coming back but Xavier Clarke is in the same boat as Goose Maguire: much loved fan favorites wrecked by injuries and sent to Brisbane

Raph was most definitely the shit one. Taken pick 8 in easily the worst draft in 20 years, was a unique mixture of coaches pet and insufferable spud, couldn't find his way out of an open garage such was his poor awareness, panicked under pressure was slow couldn't kick and did these long floating handballs that just made you close your eyes.

People might think it's harsh but i could've accepted all of that for whatever it was that Ross thought he brought to the team, but the cementing of my dislike for Raph was the fact that as mentioned in the thread before he played a fantastic Prelim in 2009 and i was thinking he was about to make the step and become the player we always hoped right as he hopefully became a Premiership player next week!

Gets run down in the opening minutes leading to the first goal to Geelong. Unsighted after that. Same old Raph.

Easily the worst player I've seen pull on a St Kilda jumper and im fully aware of Strength through Loyalty and backing your boys but you don't put your 3 legged horse in the Melbourne Cup and pretend it's as good as the others.

Pretty funny some anonymous tough guy on Big Footy calling into question an AFL players physical courage.
But hey, who am I to criticise? You sound as if you played 300 games, and was voted most courageous player 5 times running.

How many times have you called out people for saying similar about Watts or Marc Murphy? 0 I bet

Simon Beaumont was the worst player I ever seen kick 8 goals in a half of football.
I was literally laughing how it was happening.
Think Tony Shaw was coach of Collingwood at the time we were playing them in that game.
Still shake my head at how bad that was.

I refuse to check that David McKay has actually played 150 games. I just flat out refuse to believe it

Actually one of the more elite contested mark players to have ever played our game.
A few premierships too.
Saw his last few seasons but here is a bit of his highlights from before our time.

Leon Davis.

A complete spud who went missing in big games.

No, he didn't.

2002 QF - 3 goals
2003 PF - 3 goals
2007 SF - 18 disposals, 10 tackles
2008 EF - 20 disposals, 6 marks, goal
2008 SF - 17 disposals
2009 - 3 decent finals games
2011 QF - 33 disposals, 8 marks
2011 PF - 23 disposals, 5 marks
2011 GF - 20 disposals, 4 marks, 11 tackles

Plus he was twice All-Australian.

So yeah, you don't know shit.

Scott Thorton from Fremantle was incredibly bad

Liam derailed our season in 2014. Up until that point, we were 8-3 and looking very comfortable in the top 4. For that reason, I could never consider him the worst 50 game player.
I'm fairly certain that was the same game he had a shot at goal from about 40m out on a slight angle and kicked it into the man on the mark's foot (it may have bounced first). Night game at the G

Absolute potato

If you've watched him once in your life and not just follow the bandwagon, you'll know he's actually a good player. His only weakness is his kicking and that's improved tenfold for him in the SANFL this year.

As for the worst player I've ever seen, Nathan van Berlo comes to mind a bit. There were some Melbourne players from 07-12 that could take this award out easily.
Kicking is kinda important. VB has played over 200 games. You have no idea . Butcher is not a piece of gum on vB shoe. He can't get a game in what can only be described as a horror year for you! If he was any good he'd be playing by now.
