Would you rather MFC win 4 or 5 games this year?

I think a new sub board for the "supporters" who want us to win less than 4 games a year should be created. Just so people like myself who goto the footy to see us win dont have to read this.

Would love 5 wins so i have an extra week to celebrate during the year. 1 extra player won't make a difference... if we pick up Butcher with the extra pick for example we could only hope he turns out as good as Pav, and look where Freo is at the moment even with him in the side.

If we suck that bad then i'll be glad to get an extra gun as we will obvoiously need it, but i'll take a win over a pp anyday.

You dont think one extra player will make a difference? What If that player turns out to be a champion CHF or FF?

One player can make a big difference!

what if he turns out to be tambling, i would love my side win one less game to see that happen.

Come on now, the players are playing for their life, see newton.
So you are saying pro tankers that you don't melbourne to win as much as we can this year for the SLIGHT chance that a kid that we don't pick up turns out to be a superstar as opposed to the kid that we pick up 10 picks later or something.
 where is this logic?

I would suggest that the superstars, which Melbourne is in desperate need of, are more likely to come at the front end of the draft, as opposed to 10 picks later. The chance is probably greater than a slight chance as you put it, as there are normally one or two standouts in any given draft. In addition, if we have the top 2 picks, then there is a good chance at least one of these players will be excellent, whereas with one pick, there is less chance of that happening. Sure, in drafting there are uncertainties and factors which can't necessarily be accounted for or predicted, but there is no doubt having the top 2 picks would improve our chances at generating a favourable outcome.

You said what if he turns out to be Tambling, this isn't the only way to view the situation. What if we get a combination as good as Franklin and Roughead? Or perhaps even better?

Similar poll currently being held on Herald Sun website. Its asks you to vote on:

If you were a Demons supporter would you rather win 10 games or have the Priority Pick?

As at 8.20pm tonight the poll was running 62% for the priority pick and 38% for us to win 10 games.

Pretty resounding response hey?

dumb poll. Demon supporters don't read the Sun, they read the Age. Carlton supporters read the Sun

the most depressing part of this thread is that it's only round 6.

please don't tell me i have to put up with this shit about us tanking on the board for another 4 months...

You don't have to put up with it, you can choose to ignore threads related to this topic.

Personally, I find this discussion quite interesting, but each to their own.

Wild loaded question. You should get a job in politics.

I voted for 5 just for lols.

Actually no **** it I'd love 5. As if we're going to win anything ever anyway - it would be worth it just to see everyone on here crying like bitches.

What's this guy's IQ?

Seriously, some people don't get it. They can't see the big picture.

I'd argue that you're looking too small. Why not throw a few more seasons and really stock up. If the PP comes before selection 1 what does it matter that Gold Coast have the top pick? Let's just be pox for the next decade and really load up until we've got the greatest team ever born.

I thought a St. Kilda fan would be right on top of a ploy like that.

BUMP!

Thought this thread was becoming relevant again as we are a strong chance of winning 5 games.
Currently on 2 and with:
Port ,Rich,Freo and NM to come , all at home. We may actually finish off the bottom....And no Scully ,Butcher,Trenogove, ect. for the pain.

God forbid we get to four - and don't get ahead of yourself - there's no doubt that there will be surgeries, viruses, 'rests', 'free flowing football' (i.e no defence) and bizarre selection decisions all around.

I WILL CRY!!!!!!!!!! if we win 5 games!!!

i seriously hope this doesnt happen

hopefully port beat us by a couple of goals on the weekend and we put in a good performance.

Not even a question, 4 but it is still possible we wont even get pick 1, unlikely but we can win enough games without being unrealistic IMO, i want us to win games too though

Ideally i would like to smash fremantle at home and beat carlton in round 21

those would be two very nice wins.

Well, without Sylvia, Its hard to imagine us beating Port..

I think we beat Richmond and Fremantle.

We wont beat North, Crocker is playing for his
job and Norths side should improve from here on in,
with their captain back in the side.

I think we end up with 4 wins and just above Richmond.

As much as Id love Skully, we should still end up with
a priority and a couple of handy players.

Im not sure, but I think West Coast play Richmond again this
year, if thats the case - will make for an interesting match, as
both sides probably dont want another win..

Could be the silliest question ever... so ill go the obvious 4!

Who ever in there right mind thinks otherwise should be banned from posting again.

I can't see Melbourne will beat Port this weekend. Port is just outside the 8 and desperate for a win to make the final 8.

In addition to this, no Sylvia for 3 weeks reduce goal kicking power.

The only game we can win is Fremantle. Carlton will be eager to win to keep their finals hope alive. For North, I think Crocker want a win to keep his coaching job a chance for 2010.

This mean Melbourne will end up 3 wins and will remain 16th on ladder due to poor percentage comparing to Tigers and Fremantle (8% difference) and of course Pick 1 and 2.

I think West Coast will beat Fremantle. This is because Pavlich is injuried. West Coast vs Richmond in round 22 at Subiaco is interesting. I don't think Richmond want a win because of priority picks after round 1.

Scully and Trengrove are a MUST for us to challenge in future years. Dont forget in 07 when we beat Carlton we lost the chance to recieve another quality player. Carlton losing that game was the sole reason they were able to get Judd and that may be the difference for them in challenging for a premiership. If we dont beat power this wkd we wont win more than four games.

Hmm...I think it's time for a little story.

So it's round 22, and we're sitting on 4 wins playing the undefeated Saints. We're 5 points behind in the last quarter. Jack Watts has just marked 30 metres out on a slight angle, he's lining up to kick his 4th goal for the day. AND THE SIREN GOES!!! Jack has a shot for goal after the siren, to either cause the biggest upset in history, or give us the number 1 and 2 picks for the draft...would you rather Jack kick the goal or to kick a behind?...I would choose Jack to kick the goal every day of the week.

StingArmstrong

If you would seriously want Jack Watts to kick the goal i dont know whats wrong with you.

Id like a shank in that situation that goes 20m wide of the point post.
