And he played well against Collingwood too...![]()
That was the time he got a brownlow vote. His good games were few and far between.

Maybe this could validate those who are looking at a Hill trade, could Ellis be there to fill in his position whilst we trade Hill+Mello/Michie for a big fish?
I hope not, like pistol says, we only improve the squad.
If Mellington is on his bike then X Clark for cover.

You mean Ellis, right? We don't want Xavier Clarke.![]()

cheers Torz,
gotta lay off the crack
Might have to get on it if we pick up Ellis.
DN you really don't like Ellis, and I'm not sure as to why? Would you mind to elaborate on this? I am intrigued as I am in two minds as to if he would be best 22 for Freo and if he isn't then IMO there is little reason as to why Freo should draft him.
Muchas gracias
Damn.Just a tiny snippet on an otherwise quiet day for Freo supporters
In other developments on Thursday, Hawthorn midfielder Xavier Ellis is in Perth and set to undergo a medical test as Fremantle considers whether to pursue the unrestricted free agent.
Best I could do.
My good man, he has just never struck me as a good player and injuries aside there's probably a reason that he's slid down the pecking order at Hawthorn. In my very limited and completely one-sided view it is because of his likeness to a member of the crustacean family.
All that having been said, I think we have some very talented youngsters around the midfield HFF area who I rate higher than him and I very firmly believe are better candidates to come into the side before him. He would be a surplus list clogger at best JMT, at a time when it's clear as day that the cupboards need filling with every sure-thing or longshot KPP that we can find.
Hope the family is well.
If Freo pick up Ellis and upgrade Tabs I can't see how many players they want from the draft.
We must be backing our current medical/fitness mob to get Ellis out there and keep him out there.Fit and available is the fundamental premise of everything else Ross achieves;with Gumby I'm assuming the surgery he had must have been after we gave him a medical last year, and presumably was successful. If we pick up Ellis and Gumby do we need to recruit another medic?
I think everyone appreciates his talents but he is more injury prone than BOB (may require Freo knowledge) and will be in a large queue of mids and flankers when we need KPPs desperately. Drafting a Mitch Thorp instead might not make much sense but it makes ten times more sense in the context of our current list.Ellis is a quality player... I am spewing Hawthorn didn't renew his contract but he probably does need a fresh start. He will be a good pickup for you guys!
Spot on, If it looked like all our kids are miles off competing at the top level like our young talls no problem but all those players have been really good.Makes no sense.
Its why since I heard this rumour last week I feel there must be a big name mid about to be traded(not Fyfe).
We have enough mids, heck one of our biggest young talents is about to leave because he cant get games.
Ellis looked OK(not great/star) 5 years ago, since then done stuff all.
Would much rather see Crozier, Sutcliffe, Sheridan, Mora and Michie get games.
Give them a chance and they are capable of doing just as much as Ellis.
Also the candy seller Simpson
Still too small, only played the 1 game but geez he almost looked right at home.
His skills in traffic reminded me of Roger Hayden

Are you X E ?Ellis is a quality player... I am spewing Hawthorn didn't renew his contract but he probably does need a fresh start. He will be a good pickup for you guys!
Wouldn't make sense, he's been on the list for one year and he was injured for most of that year. Although I still don't understand why we took him over Membrey.I concur with others in 2010 when there was the mass exodus I could see why we might chase an Ellis but not now. I look at our list and I struggle to find players to delist, Kepler and Duffy are the only ones considering we need to take two players in the draft. Now if Ellis was 195cm I get it.
