okay - I am going to close off any entrants at 3PM and then send PMS, and then tag everyone in groups of 5 to start the nightshift.
my workplace agreement didn't state anything about nightshifts

HR and the Union came to an agreement in which the employees agreed to work nightshift and the union officials got new cars.

Union got a sweet deal employees got the middle finger it seems.

Is there any other way?

A long while ago I worked for a transport company. The TWU rep pushed hard for everyone to be in the union. When the EBA (or whatever the collective agreement was called at the time) came back, a normal day had been changed from 8am to 6pm to 5am to 11pm. Effectively removing a few hours of penalty rates for all workers across both shifts.

In a totally unrelated activity, the next time he was in site he was in a brand new fully specced Landcruiser.

My pithy comment was based on my experience (albeit from a different era).

A strong union can make a massive difference for it's workers - a weak union can make a massive difference for it's workers.

there was a time that guy would have ended up in hospital or dead for doing that sort of thing

pretty telling the CFMEU spent most of their resources recently making sure duck hunting wasn't banned in Vic instead of anything even remotely relevant to their members work conditions

but then given courts can take away your right to strike for better working conditions its kind of hard to really win important stuff

The idea that you can put restrictions on when people can withdraw labour is insane to me.

Not at the TWU which was a pissweak union (at the time - I don't have anything to do with it anymore). Certainly at the stronger ones you'd be lynched.

yeah or that lovely landcruiser would meet an unfortunate workplace accident

yeah fine line at times, like a strike at a hospital could lead to patients dying if there was no one still working

but that doesn't mean that healthcare workers shouldn't be able to strike for better conditions, yet that's what happened in WA

they went ahead with the action anyway and the Union copped a massive fine

the courts are on the side of big business generally, we've seen it time after time over recent years with rulings

you just have to look at the uproar over the right to disconnect bill

like it should not be at all controversial that you don't have to read emails or answer the phone when you are not being paid to in your own free time

That just seems like the Opposition being contrarian for the sake of it. A cynical part of me thinks the LNP knows Dutton is unelectable and is hanging him out to dry so that whoever replaces him before the next election looks better.

But, I think there's enough distrust of big companies and corporations that the Coalition can't just sit in their corner on every issue any more, which is a good thing.

MOD NOTE:

Monday, Bloody Monday.

As I trudge my weary feet towards work, regret weighs heavy on my shoulders like a burden too great to bear. With each step, I feel the weight of my financial struggles pressing down upon me, a constant reminder of why I'm compelled to endure this daily grind. The meager wage I earn barely covers my basic needs, let alone grants me any semblance of comfort or security. As I enter the dimly lit office, the fluorescent lights flicker overhead, casting an eerie glow upon my surroundings. I can't help but wonder if this is all there is to life – an endless cycle of toil and torment with no reprieve in sight. The thought of spending another day chained to this desk fills me with a profound sense of despair, leaving me longing for a way out of this soul-crushing existence. If only I had chosen a different path, perhaps then I wouldn't find myself trapped in this relentless pursuit of survival.

Enjoy the game!

Bloody hell! What a preamble! But scarily accurate.

Is this a reference to Joe vs the Volcano? It's like a perfect description of the intro.
