FB: Francis - Hooker - Gleeson

MF: Parish - Shiel - Merrett

EM: Redman - Stewart - Laverde - Ridley

Going with the assumption that everyone will be fit/ready to play for round 1 except Scharenberg, here is my best 22:

B: Langdon Dunn Maynard

HB: Howe Moore Crisp

C: Treloar Pendlebury Sidebottom

HF: Hoskin-Elliott Mihocek De Goey

F: Thomas Cox Stephenson

R: Grundy Adams Beams

I/C: Phillips Varcoe Sier Mayne

Most notable players to miss out (depth): Goldsack, Greenwood, Brown, Aish, Reid, Elliott, Wells, Roughead.

I expect us to draft Kelly and Quaynor as well, so they'll also likely be in the equation. Thoughts?

B: Sheppard - Barrass - Duggan
HB: Hurn - McGovern - Cole
C: Gaff - Redden - Jetta
HF: Rioli - Darling - Cripps
F: Ryan - Kennedy - Venables
R: Hickey (NicNat) - Yeo - Shuey
Int: Vardy - Sheed - Hutchings - Masten

I am biased but I would have thought "average" is a bit harsh (though I guess it is a pretty even comp).

The forward line produced 4 38 plus small/mid goal kickers for the first time ever with the two talls kicking 54 goals between them....and that didn't include Elliott

Howe is star and Maynard, Moore, Langdon and Crisp are all still on the upward curve of their careers based on their ages....but perhaps average is fair
With Dunn fully fit and match sharp our back 6 is above average. He makes a huge difference imo. In the GF we had a back 6 of Maynard, Langdon, Crisp, Howe, Goldsack and Greenwood. Take out the last two (Goldsack and Greenwood) and put in Dunn at full back and I reckon Moore at centre half-back, and our back 6 looks far better. Certainly much more capable of dealing with for example, West Coast's forwards. Dunn is easily our best player to go on Kennedy, and Moore I reckon is probably our best matchup for Jack Darling. Of course, as I said, both missed the grand final.

Moore should (touch wood) be fit for the opening game. Dunn of course did his ACL so he may be ready to go at round 1 next year but we very well might miss him for a little while, at least for the first month of the season.

Hopefully Pies by mid season will be something like this

B - Maynard, Scharenberg, Langdon
HB - Howe, Moore, Crisp
C - Phillips, Beams, Sidebottom
Foll - Grundy, Adams, Sier
HF - Treloar, Cox, Stephenson
F - Elliott, DeGoey, J.Thomas

Pendles, Wells, Goldsack and Aish on the bench.

Damn. Good side. Very even. Lock in a GF spot I reckon. Especially with Wells and Elliott fit

B Gleeson - Hooker - Francis
HB Saad - Hurley - McKenna
C Merrett - Heppell - Zaharakis
HF Stringer - Daniher - Fantasia
F Baguley - McKernan - McDonald-Tipungwuti
R Bellchambers - Shiel - Smith
Int. Myers - Langford - McGrath - Parish

Stiff - Laverde, Redman, Ridley, Guelfi.

Baguley is really a structure thing. Defensive forward that is required for now imo but could easily be replaced by a Josh Begley (also slightly stiff but coming off injury) by mid season.

Williamson - Weitering - Plowman
Simpson - Marchbank - Docherty
O'Brien - Dow - Petrevski-seton
Newman - McGovern - Fisher
Fasolo - C.Curnow - McKay
Kreuzer - Cripps - Murphy

I/C : E.Curnow - Setterfield - Walsh - Keneddy

McGovern to spend equal amount of time in the forward/ backline.

C.Curnow to be released into the midfield at times.

Carlton to suprise many.

Yup, a sad finish. Always thought you'd do well out of him in the first year of the contract and he'd be serviceable in the second, but that 3 years was one too long. I guess he probably wouldn't have moved for less though, given he still had a 1 year contract at Hawthorn, and I don't think we categorically ruled out another 1 year extension, just told him it wasn't a certainty. A 3 year deal versus 1 year certain with any extension uncertain was an easy choice for Lewis. Still see it as a win/win. Added some valuable experience to your list at a time you needed it, and allowed us cap space and opportunity for players like Morrison/Worpel/Howe to get games. Never fun to see a player that was a champion of your club run around in the seconds team of another club before retiring though :-(

Who knows, maybe he'll surprise and squeeze another decent year out of himself. You have enough leaders now that he probably needs to do it on form rather than 'out there for leadership'.

I think it's just his lack of speed. His leadership has been brilliant. Like last year it was tough at times when we had 2 if not 3 of Lewis/Vince/Jones in the one 22. Now with Vince gone it won't be as much of an issue. I reckon Jones will play more HFF or FP even with how slow he has also become. It does require like a Petracca to work on his midfield game. Lewis similar, but the other way around. Will see him taking on a medium sized forward down back.

Our sexy best 22 looks like

B: Jeremy Howe - Lynden Dunn - Brayden Maynard
HB: Jack Crisp - Tom Langdon - Darcy Moore
C: Dayne Beams - Scott Pendlebury - Steele Sidebottom
HF: Will Hoskin-Elliott - Mason Cox - Jamie Elliott
F: Josh Thomas - Jordan De Goey - Brody Mihocek
R: Brodie Grundy - Taylor Adams - Adam Treloar
I: Tom Phillips - Brayden Sier - Jaidyn Stephenson - Travis Varcoe
No room for Mainy?
Was in your top 5 on grand final day.

FB: Pickett -- Weitering -- Plowman
HB: Docherty -- Marchbank -- Simpson

C: SPS -- E. Curnow -- O'Brien
R: Krezuer -- Cripps -- Dow

HF: Murphy -- C. Curnow -- Fisher
FF: McGovern -- McKay -- Fasolo

Int: Setterfield -- Kennedy -- Walsh -- Williamson

I think Pickett off half back / back pocket could provide explosive run and carry hence why I have him there.

Also assuming we go to the draft with pick #1 and select Walsh

Also assuming Setterfield is good to go.
