Parent bought me an old hyundai excel. 91 model I think. I hated and it didn't drive it. Looking back I realise how selfish I was and should have been thankful. First car I bought was a 96 EL Falcon Futura. I loved that thing :(

1993 Ford Laser, owned well past 1993 lol

Was driving home one night after work and fell asleep driving and crashed it into another car

My neighbor is selling his, he recently won 'best small car' with it at a Holden car show.

It was the only small car entered.

2010. It was a new 2010 Mazda3 neo sedan (charcoal). About 25K, 16 up front. I was already 21 then, hadn't really needed a car of my own until this point (passed my (manual) driving test at 17 but would just scab mum's car then left home and had the convenience of nearby workplaces, trains and driver roommates for a few years). I'd possibly still be driving it now, a real trooper, but someone ran an intersection red light 6 years later and cleaned me up, so it got written off. Still on my second (used). Which makes me realise I've now had my second car longer than my first :openmouth: although it felt like I had the first longer because I was younger and drove it a bit more, plus the expansive freedoms of your first car (and it being brand new).

1962 Pontiac Catalina, 389 V8, 4 barrel Carburetor

Had an absolute ball in that car.

Ran like a champ until I lost the brakes at over 100MPH, interesting ride that one.

my first two cars were bombs, cheap to get expensive to maintain, and not reliable

i got lucky with a job that came with a car, the downside of that was the amount of driving I had to do in that job, was on the road a lot, getting paid to drive isn't bad but it was a lot of time in country towns, luckily I was single so not being around much didn't matter

My first "new" car that I bought myself I was 29, at the time the second hand cars weren't that much cheaper, got a good price and full warranty

Chrysler Galant purchased for $250 from the Claremont Footy Club.
First thing done was scraping the 2 Claremont stickers off the back window.
Left the Esso "Put a Tiger in your Tank" one on though.

I never really had a first car. I drove mums car until I just kinda took it over. Then there was the HQ which never really felt like a 'first car' because it definitely wasn't a taxi lol, it never got driven regularly.

1974 Leyland Marina. Was never quite the same after I got it bogged in Port Phillip Bay and the tide came in.
I had a 76 Mini and frankly I'm surprised a few hours immersed in Port Phillip Bay made any difference to a British built car from the 70s.

The engine was underwater for an hour or 2, it still ran afterwards but not quite the same. Was a ripper of a car actually.
