Positive: Jordan Russel - wasn't a big fan before this nab cup. played superbly last night. great goal, and did a great job on Power. Also thought Stevens returned to his old, superb self this nab cup (much improved than last yr imo), and Fisher has shown sum great signs

Negative: Really wanted to see grigg get a game!!

Negative: Fev's knee soreness

Positive: Murphy's flying, Fisher's flying and goaling, Russell managing to keep one of the game's best mids extremely quiet. :thumbsu:

Has this been reported in the press today AWG?
I've bought the papers, but haven't gotten around to reading them as yet.

no sorry, not reported as official, I was just going by how he acted last night. A few times he reached for it towards the end of the game.

Wouldn't be to concerned there AWG. He did the lap of honour with the boys, and even managed to give a couple of his female fans a kiss in the crowd. I've never seen 2 grown women get so excited after Fev ran off.

Is he going back to his heritage? The Italian Stallion romantic thing? He even kissed the little girl :)

In all honesty, i think it's great to see him play teh way he has over NAB cup, and also to see him in the rooms happy with Mia. All the worries over the pre-season, and all the concerns that it would affect him this year seem to be so untrue. Perhaps we needed to have more faith in him - seems he's more comfortalbe with himself than we used to think. I"m glad he's ok :)

Negative: We are really giving away hight in the ruck. McDonald and Wood towers over our top 2.

Positive: What we lack in hight in the ruck, we make up for in aggression in the air and ground level.

very true. We aren't the tallest, but it certainly does not take away from our committment. Both Cloke and Ackland have beaten their man in the ruck an ddone some extremely good taps down to the chest of a blue in waiting.

How good was last night, Cloke's palm down hit Stevens right in his arms, stevens ran through everywhere and the ball was in our 50. Took about 3 or 4 seconds :)

Positive - Denis. Appears to be far more relaxed and the players are responding and backing themselves.

Negative - Lance. Showed a little bit last night but on the whole he's had a fairly quiet NAB Cup. Maybe a big season to come.

Positive: The win, but on a lesser note Murph's and Gibbs's tackle on Brown.
Negative: Shocking turnovers going into the forward line and out of the backline. Can remember on 3 occasions seeing the ball played into the centre of the forward line only to be put in a BL players lap.

Positive; The way the team stood up when challenged in all the games:thumbsu:
Negative; I would have liked to have seen a few more youngsters given a go.

We still have a fair way to go, but most of the players who were on display showed something at one time or another:thumbsu:Pretty pleased with how we went without getting carried away:)

Positives:
- Setanta is doing a great job at full back
- Whitnall gave us a hint of what a full fit Fevola/Whitall forward line is going to look like with his efforts in the third
- Russell is really performing excellently as a tagger which is something we've lacked over the last few years.
- Murphy is consistently excellent at such a young age
- Stevens is in the best form of his Carlton career and is loving the midfield backup
- Simpson showed that he could shake off a poor start to a game and still put in an very good performance
- After a shaky start against Essendon Walker has put it all together and looks set for a great year
- Waite has been dangerous from CHB
- Fisher has been kicking goals with accuracy

Negatives:
- Bentick, after putting in a great performance against North, couldn't back it up with another great effort this week. Needs to work on his consistency.
- Gibbs and Kennedy have yet to get used to the flow of senior footy.
- Hartlett couldn't back up last weeks game
- Wiggins couldn't get into the game

Positive: Definately O'Hailpin. He has gained so much confidence since i saw him against us.
He looked like he would only be a negating type, as i think he wasn't too confident in his offensive play.
As each week has gone on, he is gaining in confidence and he is looking like he may develop into a real gun defender.

Negative; Gibbs hearing the footsteps. He is only a kid, but opposition coaches will pick up on that, and pay him some special attention.
Won't matter long term though.

Positive -
  • Marc Murphy's second half. After having a quiet first half, his disposal, run, pressure and tackling were absolutely sensational.
  • The players didn't carry on after the game, very controlled, realised the win for what it was.
  • Setanta's development.
  • Fisher and Waite
Negative -
  • Experienced players eg: Lance and Laps skill errors, same s*#t, different season.
