The thing is they dont have to make him a marquee player with that type of money
Clubs like Richmond , West Coast and probably others have cap space to use up or lose and have to consider it as a purchase.

Just as a guide Richmond have lost just about every player over $600k on the list and will retire the likes of Lynch , Prestia and Broad this season and have 20-25 players on rookie salaries for 2027 and another 10 that would have already been fron loaded this season. chances are they could probably pay $6-8 mil in the first 2 years of that contract

I don’t think ZB is a player for a bottom rebuilding team. He is a finisher, most suited to a team like the dogs, hawthorn or Geelong.

He is young enough for these teams to build and in North's case they are already well on their way
ZB is playing more midfield and averaging 20 touches and a goal which is similar to Chad Warner
Bailey has played 171 games and kicked 192 goals so he has done it for over 8 years now

As a mature player in the right age now he should play full time mid in a young team and will i believe

he’s what we hoped Rayner would be goal kicking midfielder we don’t have many on our list and none coming through the academy you don’t let him go for a useless pick
So you would be for paying more than both McCluggage and Andrews?

It has been reported that they are on around the 1 Million per season mark, plus Chris Fagan has made it perfectly clear he is not for paying players exorbitant salaries, if it was your decision how high would you go to match a bid on him, 1.4 Million per season, lower... higher?

The Lions have stated they have the room to match, but I think the only way they do, is to try and force a trade.
That would be a gamble, as the Crows could turn around and say keep him then and the Lions are stuck overpaying a player, risking the whole pay structure, so I don't think we match

If you match hes just going to stay so he can win flags and get obscene money. You dont want to pay him obscene money so you wont match.

I'll assume the crows will do a Brisbane with Daniher.

Male the offer 2 years at (say) $2m or $2.5m so Brisbane can’t match, then 6m in, extend it

I'll assume that would be a stupid move by the Crows, that would be an easy match, then 6m in, extend it. Two years aint going to cut it

Pls do that option. This is such a smart strategic move from the Crom that the lions DEFINITELY will not be able to match. And is the far superior play to offering a full contract. If you could make this suggestion to mark riccuito or whoever it is that runs the Crom, I think it’s a great strategy.

He recently smoothed out his contract adding another 3 years, no longer $1M a year.
I believe they can’t alter the original two years that were submitted by Adelaide as part of the PSD matching mechanism. Those first two years are locked in. They can add extra years on top for peanuts, but the $1 million per year for the first two seasons stands and can’t be changed.

What do we think of the Zac Bailey Crows audition today?

Haven’t the AFL stopped that for things like FA? Or is it more of an AFL classic base your decisions on vibes?

Pls don’t ask questions and let the Crom implement this strategy.

Temu Brisbane will only lose to Brisbane by 6 goals next year when Bailey and his retirement fund go to South Australia.

Brisbane will just use whatever cap space they have from the exit of Zac and Lachie to keep attracting talent who want success, and get them for unders financially. Already whispers Wardlaw wants to join the party. In my opinion Adelaide need a player like that more than Bailey.

I don't know. Brizzy aren't getting very good crowds lately at the GABBA. 35k seems to be the level.
What's going on with that? If I was a player looking to move, Collingwood playing in front of 92k makes more sense to me!

Adelaide have 17 players coming off contract this year. A few they will want to keep like 3 of Pedlar, Butts, Berry, Bond & Cook. The rest they probably have no qualms over. Any others their keep will have low contracts anyways. In other words they'll move money around and if the offers for say any of their players is too much they'll cut them lose. They're all in on Bailey. I expect Butts & Bond leave to other clubs. Both were approached last year. They'll want to hold onto Bond more than Butts. They'll make sure that if Bailey comes to the crows that the Lions cant match.

I dont know either, approx 70,000 members and the Gabba with a capacity of 32,000, I guess that kind of explains it until the new stadium is built.

That is around the capacity of the Gabba, nearly every game is a sell out, the figures hovering up and down a little from that is Cricketers club/Gabba members not showing up.

IIRC every Gabba game in 2025 was officially a sell out.

Seeing as though the Gabba capacity is somewhere around 32-34k are you saying we are creating a hazard by overfilling the Gabba with 35? That’s LIBEL.
