Lol.But is that really what's going on? Essendon have to address the fact their captain is unhappy and wants out, and if they are not talking about it and contemplating it its just shit people management.
I agree it is massive overs, I think we should take the offer today, I am just saying what I think they will come back with (or maybe what the Hawks might go next)Big overs. Happy for essendon to keep Merrett at that price. Sad for Merrett that he will never get to play in a winning finals team.
Really? It's not for Eagles supporters it's a message to Hawthorn supporters, we don't really care if you can't get it.
What do you mean?
Hawthorn ended up giving up more than they'd otherwise have for Barrass because WCE were expecting it to be a straight trade for 14.
It worked out better in the long run.

Discussing a big name trade in the offseason? It is the reason you are here.
Apparently you aren't in the market for anyone whatsoever, considering none of the targeted players have officially requested a trade to Hawthorn.Marginally. Extremelly marginally.
WCE wanted pick 14. Hawks traded it out for Carltons first 2 picks. WCE had the choice of ours or carltons first 2 picks so they got we we would have paid anyway. That they made the wrong choice is irrelevant.
The 'more' you refer to is Hawks trading their 3rd round pick for the eagles 4th round pick. Thats the only difference.
Carlton were the flavour of the month. Mackenzie trading out 14 and giving the eagles the option was pure genius as most clubs would have chosen carlton. Why else would he do it?
The Barrass trade was some of his best work. We wouldn't be in the market for anyone, let alone Merrett, without it.
Being offended about Barrass, SAD!Discussing a big name trade in the offseason?
3mins to deadline, I guess the trade not happening...
Eagles lost by getting a F1 and F2 for a 30yo KPD that didn’t make the top 10 of your B&F with back issues?
Interesting.
Nope, we have other uses for pick 9 is Bombers don’t want it.What a bunch of absolute d***heads lmao. Arrogant flogs thinking they can force the Dons hand.
Asking for a response is not forcing anyone's hand, give it a spellWhat a bunch of absolute d***heads lmao. Arrogant flogs thinking they can force the Dons hand.
There's still some chance of chaotic deadline scenes as list managers hurl themselves through the air with a desperate lunge at the fax machine to file off that 11th hour tradeAs a hawk fan I like this approach. Feels like strong, but good faith negotiation.
As someone who is suffering from the torture of this thread and trade period overall I am just so glad someone has drawn a line in the sand to take us all out of our misery.

Pick 9, Pick 31, 2026 F1 and 2027 F1 and we have a deal. If they want a token 3rd or 4th in return by all means.
Yeah I get all that.Lol.
It's more than about time clubs started holding these players accountable to their contracts. We've seen quite a few held last year and this year.
Essendon are under no obligation to let Merrett play for a rival club for a deal they don't deem acceptable.
Merrett was more than happy to accept a payrise at the start of the year and declare a few months ago he was committed to Essendon whilst shopping himself around under contract behind their back.
