We're not getting Guthrie for an out of contract Tuohy, and I'd be dead against bringing Motlop across.

Smedts we've been linked to for a few weeks now and it wouldn't surprise should he be involved in this trade. I'm not a huge fan but he has had plenty of injuries throughout his career and is talented enough to turn things around with a good run at it.

They can forget about a straight swap, but if they can't get a pick in the range we're looking for we'll take the closest pick they have + Smedts.
 
Why is Touhy not linked to GC?! They want mature players, have $$ and the picks to get it done.

Just makes sense.

Geelong have no cap space or picks.

I actually don't mind Smedts. He can be a bit daft at time but would give us some run and carry, something we really need.

Getting Motlop would be pointless, if they can get a late first rounder or early second rounder for him and not use that on Deledio then that would probably do it. I think getting a fringe player or an established player 25 or over defeats the point of what we are doing here.

Can't see Touhy wanting to enter the preseason draft and can't see us taking what we don't want for him. Should get what we want with all our trades.

It's annoying, like it was with Yarran and Richmond that Touhy seems to only be entertaining one club and one who doesn't seem to have a lot to give. Had there been more clubs involved we could have got into a bidding war or found better offers which would have been great for us.

Touhy has asked to go to Geelong, he has a offer on the table from Carlton but wants to go to Geelong. He is married to victorian girl so I doubt he would want to move interstate.

I don't disagree. I think it's more in the way that it's said. If a female player was being spoken about in the same terms as were used in the examples, somebody would most likely have kicked up a stink (rightly or wrongly), or one of the mods might have deleted it before it started anything.
Just an interesting double standard. I don't think anyone was offended by it. In fact, if I hadn't said anything, I doubt anyone would have given it a second thought.
Anyway, don't want to derail the thread.

It's a bit of a spin-out that two players, who both improved significantly under Bolton are bailing out. It kinda' defies logic.

Anyway, we should swap him for Henderson...he'd be handy down back :rolleyes:
 
I'm enjoying the banter all. Never took much notice at trade time but SOS's bold efforts last year have me salivating.
Maybe we can offer Tuohy in a package deal like the GWS 4 last year? Jaksch, Whiley & Tutt?:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Geelong list manager almost said the same late today - said that Deledio and Tuohy's "people" (people meaning management) only came to Geelong late in the season so Geelong didn't have time to plan for these deals like they did last year when they bought in Dangerfield, Henderson etc.

He basically threw Deledio and Tuohy under a bus.

If Geelong can't do a suitable deal for us and he walks to the PSD (to Essendon :mad: ) it would be a disgrace.

Anyone keen on Mitch Duncan?

Cats don't have picks. Their players seem to be very good (they won't want to trade) or very ordinary (we don't want / won't engage a third club).

So maybe Duncan, can be very good on this day but out of form would be good for us. Thoughts?

I understand that, but if he's from Ireland surely he doesn't care moving state.

He came to Australia to be a professional athlete, surely a big deal with lots of cash appeals to him more than taking less to play with Geelong for success, it's not like he grew up dreaming.

A deal with GC could be done in minutes.

As with Gibbs, HE might ne OK about moving but he now has a wife and infant kid to consider. THEY might be less than keen to move to the Gold Coast away from his Mrs family and I wouldn't blame them.
