Armitage is a gun I don't get why he is not in the team.

I know McQualter has been great this year but he was shit against Melbourne, Armitage could do a better job I reckon.

Gaertner, Haretuku, Howard, Connors, Tungatulum, and McGrath have all been named in the reserves team to play in the Elimination Final against Coburg on Sunday. Good chnce for a few of them to push for senior list spots or to stay on the Saints list in some form.

Named at CHB - not sure how much he has played there (would assume mostly FF and pinch hit ruck).

The thing with him is that he's a nice kick for his height, so depends on whether the club think he's developing quickly enough to find more of the ball.

In addition to Tunga, LJ, and Ooh Aah, Genghis also played.

Sandringham: Johnston Eddy Gilchrist Liddell Gribbin Williams

REPORTED PLAYERS:

Sandringham: Nil

Here's a team that snuck into the finals by 2%, and provided the cellar dwellars with their only win, has some how knocked out 2nd place and made the Grand Final.

Will play the winner of Box Hill (1st) and North Ballarat (4th) on Sunday the 20th at TEAC Oval.

just to let people know that in the VFL reserves the top 6 play finals and sandi finished 6 by just 12 per cent but are now playing in the grand final this sunday

they defeated williamstown who finished 2nd by 44 points with players like
Connors Mcgrath,Allan Harektuku Tungatalum

the defeated Coburg who finished 3rd in the elimation final in week one

Now if they can win the flag, it will be a big ask to beat Box Hill, it would have to be a record. they have come from nowwhere.

Leading votegetters for Zebras in J.J.Liston were.....
Peter Summers,Nick Sautner and our own David Armitage ,each with 7 votes.:p

The sooner Sautner goes, the better the Zebs will be.

Sorry, L2M4G, but that's not fair.

Yes, Sandringham is often very Sautner focused and yes, he is probably in the last stages of his career, but he is - without a doubt - one of the best full forwards in the history of the VFL and an extremely accurate kick.

And you cannot blame him for Sandringham not making the finals - a Sandringham filled with more AFL players than ever due to St Kilda's good run with injuries (and AFL players from the dominating AFL team).

The problem is that St Kilda doesn't really care about the Sandringham FC with regard to success in the VFL - St Kilda is focused on the AFL only and use Sandringham as a mere "test and keep fit" facility. The St Kilda players do not train with Sandringham and are often played out of position (e.g. Maguire in the forward line or in the ruck).

totally not true. we are with sandi and the club is moving to frankston as they want to take over the bay.

Maybe you should read my statement again - the bit that you bolded.

Think there are a few things with the way the Zebs were playing.

The forward set-up is definitely one of them, and Sautner is obviously part of that. Regardless of whether someone is a VFL legend (which he will be remembered as) the forward structure doesn't seem to work unless we are getting run through the square (bombing it to Sautner not really an option and there is rarely a tall forward around him). He would also be one of the worst in terms of applying defensive pressure.

The wind down at Sandy is pretty tricky at times, and takes a while for players to work out how best to move the ball and kick for goal (i.e. we don;t have a natural home ground advantage yet). On a still day at a game I was at, they absolutely smashed the opposition (100 point win).

Regardless of whether we think Rhys S will be a star, he broke even at best in actual ruck contests. This was also not Macca's strength. So we conceded some relatively easy goals at times through centre clearances. May not be a problem next year if Rhys and Ooh Aah step up.

There's also the new alignment (takes time to gel), and whether the Saints players are have been given things to work on, which they might be doing to the detriment of the team.

And also there's alot of older hardened players going around the VFL, whilst we have a relatively young group playing with Sandy aside from Leigh Fish and Goose. Birss and Rix (and Fergie at times) starred regularly at Casey but have been delisted.

There's a reason Melbourne have no good young key forwards - Nick Sautner plays full forward for Sandringham. In the end, Melbourne knew they were getting Watts, so changed allegiances to Casey.

Holden, I am not blaming him for the Zebs missing the finals. I will stand by comment that they will be better if he wasn't there. It remains to be seen if this better will mean they make the finals. Look at the football played when Sauntner was not present this year and you might notice a few things.

Sauntner is an incredible talent but incredibly selfish. Ask yourself why a man of his ability has never played made it onto an AFL list. Once he loses a chance to get the football, he loses interest in the contest. Terrible for the development of our future forwards.

Maybe they should've just said Genghis at CHB for tomorrow's reserves GF:

B: Liddell, Gribbin, Fleming
HB: Smith-Cameron, Harektuku, Monaghan
C: Connors, M. Johnston, Garrubba
HF: Hardiman, Summons, Ferraro
F: Tungatalum, B. Eddy. McConnell
R: McGrath, Dean, Gilchrist
Int: Allan, C. Johnston, Waller, Williams, Stapleton, Cosson
