South Africa in Australia (3 T20I's, 5 ODI's)

Cricket Australia charges absurd ticket prices, the CHEAPEST being $35 for a series without a high level of interest.
Nobody turns up.
Cricket Australia demands an investigation into why nobody is going.

Idiots.

Hardly. Clarke isn't in our best side.

1. Warner
2. Finch (I dislike it but he'll be there)
3. Smith
4. Watson
5. Bailey
6. Marsh
7. Wade (Haddin isn't in our best side)
8. Faulkner
9. Johnson
10. Starc
11. Hazelwood or Harris

12th (permanent): Maxwell- specialist fielder
Finch ran over your cat didn't he....

We should be wearing gold because it's our Australian Limited Overs colours and it's what we wore during our hattrick.
I may be the only one here but it shits me when I see us in green with very little or no yellow.

For decades our limited overs uniforms have been synonymous with yellow (Canary). CA for the love of God go back to the Gold uniforms!

Honestly there has to be questions whether he is right now

I agree their are questions, as their is with Watson. Spots are tight and I can't see them leaving out Clarke if he is fit and wants to play.

Bailey and Watson need to score runs. You constantly talk about you hate for "fat boy" Finch, but out of the top 3 he is our best performed batsman in the last 12 months. Why should Watson be an automatic selection when he hasn't scored an ODI 50 in over 12 months? Same goes for Warner, I. Think he is our best side, but eventually he has to start making more runs also doesn't he? Finch has out performed him.

Don't think Watson is untouchable, but his bowling has to be a factor. In Australia you nee 6-7 bowlers. Not all of them will bowl 10. That said I am far from convinced about Watson let me assure you. For him, he has had poor footwork this whole series and that is something you rarely say about him. Is that form, is that age, is that his body...I don't know. But he is not scoring runs and in this side you need to score runs period.

And what about Bailey? One fifty in 10 innings and he had to be dropped twice on single figures to get that 50.

I hate to sound like one of this negative bigfooty posters, but you can't constantly hate on certain players when their are plenty of others in the side who aren't performing as well as them.

Bailey would be the captain if Clarke isn't there, and I still like having a genuine hitter in Australian conditions who can also build (Bailey) in the top 6. Then another in Marsh, and another in Faulkner. Warner/Finch will come off 1-2 times, and you HOPE they are in big matches and not against Scotland.

My point is, Finch is coming off more than Bailey. It's great to have blokes in to play their role but they have to be making runs. Same goes for Watson.

It's totally ridiculous to criticise Finch the way you do when he is out performing others.

We have 6 ODI centuries this calendar year. Finch has 4 of them. Easily the best performed opener in the side.

I was happy with his bowling, that's what has let him down. If he can keep his economy rate down, especially at the death, he'll be great.

This. I want to see Faulkner donut game after game. Everyone knows he can bat, it is with the ball that he needs to be consistent

Faulkner continues to impress. Just does whats needed of him under almost all circumstances.
Has stepped up to the plate at almost every level whenever he is given the chance.

A lot of people don't rate his bowling, but he bowls reasonably well in ODI's (usually at the death and in power players), and continues to take lots of wickets at FC level, even though his appearances there have been limited lately. He's obviously not express but can get it through quick enough and is a very tricky customer.

What he has more than any of our other youngsters is an incredible will to win. Probably only Pattinson is on the same level of determination as Faulkner. We've seen that now quite a few times at ODI level, but it's the same at any level he plays. Check out just days ago batting out for about 15 overs with Rainbird to get a draw for Tasmania against WA.

He is in a bit of a tough position when it comes to pressing claims for the test team, because he is behind a few quicks, and his batting isn't good enough to be a batting all rounder. Not yet anyway. Has a bit of an awkward technique, which probably prevents him from getting an average into the mid to high 30's with the bat that could see him press for a batting all rounders spot.

That being said I reckon he's bowling is good enough for test cricket. But having hardly played FC cricket for two seasons due to ODI and T20 makes it hard to press claims. As a comparison Mitchell Starc has been given all the opportunities in the world in the last few years, and despite having more weapons in his armoury than Faulkner, I would be more than confident in stating that if Faulkner had been given the same opportunities he would have returned a lot more than Starc.

Agreed.
So many teams wear green already. South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ireland. Not so much yellow.
It doesn't really matter with cricket, you kow whoich team smeone is on. Holding a bat looks quite different to not holding a bat. But the change to green just doesn't make sense, unless the marketing gurus have some theory that the dark green does some sort of jedi mind trick on the public.

But Melbourne sports fans are not turning up to anything
Their AFL crowds this year were markedly down and don't give the excuse about time slots, you either support your team or don't
They had the lowest T20 international crowd with the best time slot
Their crowd against South Africa last night was frankly abysmal
And even Melbourne Victory crowds are down as well

Oh but but but you can't expect people to turn up to things that aren't even in the holidays!

What do people think of George Bailey's captaincy?
Normally very good but was questionable yesterday. Smith should have got at absolute most two overs bowling the way he was going so I found it odd to keep him on for a third. It was also asking for trouble sending Maxwell in at that situation when Wade was clearly more suited to it. Overall, I think he's a very good captain who seems to run a calm and steady team, more so than Clarke seems to. Clarke from a tactical point of view is more proactive, although Bailey is very good at controlling the death overs and limiting damage.
