Draft Day is a joke. Those trades wouls never happen in real life.
We yes and no.
I agree that they went a bit far in the movie but I can totally see a club holding another to ransom over a particular player. If you can trade picks or players during the draft then there will be a club somewhere that will find a way to make sure they get overs trading away a pick so that someone else can get the player they want. After all we see clubs bend each other over about the price of father-son/academy picks. Even though there is now a "fair measure" system in place, I am sure that we can all agree that clubs don't like free lunches when given to another and so are still going to try to manipulate it in their favour.
NFL teams haves charts that value what a lick is worth and do not deviate that much from. Trading for players is harder to value but some trades have been so one sided in the past teams are hesitant to do them.
I can appreciate that.
I imagine that there are whole teams dedicated to risk management for this stuff.

McCarthy
I really doubt McCarthy is worth pick 6 alone, let alone Pick 6 and Pick 18.
A young contracted key fwd, you'll have to pay overs for.
Is that Schwabby ??
McCarthy is not 'the' key forward though, he's best suited to second or third.
I do that for hogan but not McCarthy.

Weller will end up being a top 10 pick, he's a serious gun in the making. Trading pick 6 and 18 would get us a Motlop

He has played the last 14 games without issue, confident his injury issues are behind him.
North don't have a great record with their rehab programs etc FWIW. Remember Jessie Smith and now Daniel Wells.
