I guess there was a few home truths told amongst the coaches and players after the * defeat.
Whatever was said it sure worked a treat! In a weird way the crowd from Windy Hill actually did us a favour. Things just had to plummet to a certain depth, before we rose again.
At that point the season was looking like another 2012, 2014 and 2021.
Another failed season when we were expected to drive on from the previous year. The options at that point were to collapse like a stack of cards, or pick ourselves up and drive on and bring home number 17.
The Carlton of 2023, didn't go the way of the 2012, 2014 or 2021 verions of Carlton though, the Carlton players of 2023 chose the latter option.
The current version of Carlton chose to win flag number 17. It possibly may not happen this year but it's only a matter of time.
