This isn’t Kerner / Kennett - we are broke and nothing left to sell.

The suburban rail loop if implemented as an uncosted Dan folly will finish this State! Eat humble pie and walk away from it and fund Health, Mental Health, Education etc . Unlike what Dan said - unfortunately u can’t have both!

Ps Dan has exited stage left - he is a smart guy - everything was in great shape when I left!
And a project supposed to finish in 2085… I won't be surprised if it gets beyond 2100… too bad a lot of people might not have 80 years left to check it out.

Yet the car tunnel the liberals were going to build was ....Eeeevil.

Kerner didn't do anything wrong, or anything right. Cain bailed out like Dan did, and Kerner sat there blissfully holding the bag.
Cain managed to get the place deeply in debt without building much in the way of infrastructure at all except the Tennis centre. Then managed to get an Arena named after him.
Fair enough, but it kind of sucks to name our infrastructure after "non-great" political figures.

Bolte Bridge. John Cain Arena. What next, the Joan Kerner Roundabout? The Ted Bailleu National park and cattle farm?

Definitely a very neocon budget. Pulled s**t from services to balance the books. They needed infrastructure and costs for everything have blown-out to an insane level including finishing projects. Spending to invigorate was the right thing post covid but the economy has since nosedived and prices have risen causing a practical recession without meeting full criteria.

They are so far down the road with their major projects that they can't stop now. Commonwealth games was their biggest heck up. Pulling out was smart but signing on to it was a major heck up. Comm games are of no interest to most people and they've bankrupted cities recently. Brisbane will heck themselves with the Olympics too. They are a lead balloon.
Comm games thing is half right, as i understand it we signed up expecting to use existing facilities with a spit and polish. The capital cost would be **** all then someone in a senior position saw a way to shoehorn up a bunch of regional marginal seats upgrades and have them host some shit and the cost went way way north. Then we bailed.

The original business case stacked up and we probably should have reverted to that TBH.

Huge debt is a load of shit. We used it as an excuse to sell everything off. Sold the SEC, water, schools, land, outsourced everything and then we all have to pay for it twice. Politics is about convincing the people that they should give everything to the private sector these days. Wonder why the cost of living is so high when what was provided by our taxes now needs to be provided by individuals to help ever increasing profits for companies that pay no tax.

Damn. Didn’t expect Caro to come out on nine news and actually speak some leveled truths about the saints.

Always hilarious to see the media slavering over Essendon's pipe after they beat GWS. "They're back!" "They could go all the way this year!" "Is Merret the best captain in the AFL?" etc

If the Bombers were a Dickens book title, they would definitely be Great Expectations. Can't wait for the inevitable fall from the heady heights of competency and tasting the salty Bomber fans tears.

BTW, Do you we think that we'd have got any of that love if we'd kicked two more goals against the Giants and won? Me either.

Absolutely nailed it Cobra.

good week for them to publish it with them playing kangaroos this week and tigers week after.

its all bs anyway, seen enough of our own teams recently start to look promising start of the season with a shitty %. They are a game ahead of 8th with the 13th best %. seen how that story ends.

Will finish 7th or 8th with help from the drawn game to be bundled out emphatically. Maybe next year campaigners.

%ageboosters against North and Richmond per below. Good time to get Richmond as well with their injury list. They have 26 players to choose from.

Gresham will win them a final.

Goddard was going to do the same, except for the PED saga.

People are laughing at them still. Aussies are campaigners we are all loving them being up because we know they'll come down hard.

People are memeing them. Stuff like them being the nuffy autistic guy in the Hangover and the other top 4 sides being the normal ones.

The clubs with the biggest supporter bases sell the most papers and get the most clicks so the media are all over Essendon or Carlton as soon as they win a couple of games.

I'm. not sure about that train loop thing from Cheltenham to Box Hill. Really ?

The roads and railway crossings are excellent. Haven’t looked into the rail loop. They work overseas okay. Our public transport is so over burdened at the moment, hopefully it works better than it sounds like it will.
I think that was quietly shitcanned 6 months ago.

Suburban rail hasnt been canned... yet.

The Parkville/Arden canning was pretty wild to me. I work in the department and didnt know. The recently appointed team for that project didnt know until after the budget paper was published.

I didn't know about the Arden / Parkville canning until you said it above!

That monstrous white elephant.......the Surburban rail loop,,,, is alive and kicking.

There's massive earth works being done on the cnr of lower Dandenong Rd and the Dingley by-pass.

About 1 KM from the entrance to the Frankston Freeway.

Yep - it's happening. I have a friend - Craig from Heatherton who is very concerned about what they are
doing with the train yard on the corner of Kingston Road and Old Dandenong Road. Not great for local
residents who have bought there for 30 years being promised a park on that spot. It's a bit ****ed.

If a park hasn't been built after 30 years then it's probably not getting built.

The idea was that after the Delta recycling facility - once they filled the old sandminng hole in - then the site would
be rehabilitated and it would be a park - this was the promise of the State Govt and local council for 30 years mate.
People like me took them at their word. I bought a house on Kingston Road, put money into it extending and renovating it. It's totally ****ed up. No compensation offered. FFS.

There were other locations they could have used. Just saying.

It's part of the "Green Wedge" - supposed to be the lungs of Melb City - no big infrastructure, no industry.
Market gardens, golf courses, parks, trees, etc. That was the deal. It is fully ****ed and I'm as mad as hell.
