Well the first and only tour match starts on Wednesday.
And yes this isn't going to be a great series. The West Indian team isn't much chop. Chris Gayle hasn't played tests in a while, Chanderpaul is in his 40s, Narine is a chucker, Shillingford has disappeared and Dwayne Bravo retired years ago.
They have a 24 Captain in Holder who has played all of 10 tests with a 22 year old Kraigg Brathwaite as his vice captain. Marlon Samuels and Denesh Ramdin provide the 'wise and experienced' support.
Holder, Brathwaite and Blackwood are pretty good young talents and Darren Bravo is a good player.
Their probably attack of Roach, Taylor, Gabriel, Holder and Bishoo isn't bad but given how flat the wickets are going to be to prop up their batting it's going to be hard for them to do much.
From an Australian point of view it will be great to see James Pattinson back in action and Lyon is set to play his 50th test.
But before all the inevitable complaints about why didn't New Zealand get the Boxing Day and New Years Tests - things were set a few years ago.
Yes the actual dates were only announced earlier this year and yes New Zealand apparently would love to play Boxing Day in Melbourne.
But Cricket Australia organises tours years in advance. We were set to tour Bangladesh earlier this month and then host New Zealand and the West Indies this summer, host India for an ODI series this January and then tour New Zealand.
Changing the dates around this team of year last minute basically *s over the scheduling of pretty much every test nation and believe it or not, but CA doesn't have that kind of authority.
