Round 5, 1980: Tim Evans 16:5 (101) d West Adelaide 10:10 (70). Not only did he outscore the opposition by 5 goals - he also had more scoring shots than the Bloods. Pretty fair player!!!!!

Big Bob McLean is the only, club only administrator post WWII to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. All the other guys who served footy post WWII and were inducted as administrators of leagues not clubs or a couple were administrators of club for a short time before a long time administrator of a league.

In the days of the interstate carnivals the players often exchanged guernseys at the end of a game. I would say that big V is a guernsey the late John Abley picked up during his all Australian efforts. He would have had a few so I imagine he occasionally wore one to training. The thing about John Abley is that he was recruited from Hawthorn as a ruckman but Fos turned him into a full back. As the PAFC website will tell you JA was originally going to play for Glenelg and his brother Kevin played for the Bays for many years. In Abley's day All Australian teams were only named at the conclusion of the interstate carnivals which were held every four or five years. From memory John Abley was named All Australian full back on three occasions.

Loved this one. My first memories of supporting Port Adelaide were of my brother telling me how great Russell Johnston was. I'd all but forgotten about him.

And David Hynes' super aggressive goatee.
