Matty Clarke and his team are critical now.

We need to focus on Harley Reid, getting the necessary draft picks, inspiring our draftees and youngsters and giving giving Hopper and Taranto the best chance for premiership success at Tigerland.

Obviously Sonsie, Banks and even Cumbo have to get a go.

It is not just youth, quality and application must be there.

We will probably be down for a few years but if we rise in 4-5 years for contention the fan base should be happy.

After 30plus years before the first of our treble the fans are not stupid, they know what needs to be done and should have full support for what our club needs to do for more premiership glory!!

The bottom line is the focus is on premiership glory for Hopper, Taranto and the rising generation at Tigerland!!

Hopper and Taranto will know the Richmond stalwarts are experts at cellar dwellers, they know what needs to be done like no other supporter group probably to rise up in a real way so it counts. This time we want it to be quicker and faster but the dip will probably need to be acute.

With a stronger North, Hawthorn not too bad and Gold Coast, GWS rising we do not need to apply a total scorched earth but we do need the draft picks to get the talent in. As an example we are not that bad now and yet we are not far off last so we need to make hay while the sun shines in terms of the draft prospects. No need to s**t the bed a bit like West Coast if/when we have the youngsters coming through

Obviously the focus is not on the likes of Cotch and JR retiring, the focus is on accummulating draft capital

We ain't going to get Pick 1.... who do you want to give up for it?

West Coast will give it to us. Harley read will go back to Victoria. West Coast are looking looking for a bigger dip and where smart getting Ginbey, Hewett and other WA players as they commence their build

We will be trading players out to GWS and West Coast if we are smart

Harley will stick with us with Taranto, Hopper and a heap of promising youngsters

We can't win a premiership for at least three years if not slightly more. Gotta keep goals real for them to be achievable and to get buy in from Hopper, Taranto and the youngsters

So we will not be throwing the baby out with the bathwater but some will need to be apart of moving deckchairs if they are smart. Dimma lead the way being a smart deckchair.

New coach could well start next year after adjustments end of this year to set the club on the correct footing to focus on the next premiership onslaught

Yeah but who are we trading out to GWS & West Coast to get their pick 1????

West Coast supporters would riot if they gave up pick 1 for established players right now. They would be more inclined to split pick 1 for lower 1st rounders but they arent going to give us pick 1.

We can trade a pick to West Coast from GWS as well as players.

The players are obvious.

Not JR and Cotch because too old now with little trade value even if contention argument is made for GWS. Kingsley has a idea of the GWS and RFC lists and what he/and GWS club needs for a premiership tilt that is not BS

I dont think the players are obvious at all, hence why I asked you who you're thinking.

They are obvious.

WA players for West Coast who can be patient and are not crap, players to GWS that help them win a premiership

We are not winning a premiership for at least three years and if we do not make a adjustment it will likely be eight plus years if not longer. Richmond supporters are not stupid after thirty plus years. After winning three in recent years we will not get a leg up from AFL HQ either

Hmmmm

WA players:

Baker 25 yo
McIntosh 29 yo
Broad 30 yo
Bolton 25 yo
Pickett 31 yo

Not sure why we would give up Baker or Bolton for a 1st rounder, seems a bit counterproductive.

McIntosh - wouldnt even get us a 3rd rounder plus his age
Broad - 2nd rounder if we are lucky
Pickett - cant see anyone interested in Pickett at his age

Why would it be counter productive if we cannot win a premiership anyway and need a mini rebuild?

We cannot make things up and rely on incompetence from Gold Coast like Geelong

West Coast will argue they are ahead in their build but will be building for a while to anyway and with strength of the WA players binding as well as getting stronger and attracting better players like Judd later in their build as they start to emerge.

Guys like West Coast elder stateman will need to retire and get off their contracts before they start to rise which will be in three years or so

If it is going to take four years minimum and probably six they will be near thirty by the time anyway. Who is to say they will not stick around anyway??

If West Coast get a few youngish players, bit like Hopper and Taranto their build is more believable with the young draft picks when guys like Shuey, McGovern, Darling etc.. retire

You could try to get 5 or6 from Carlton ( if they lose to sydney, finishing 14th is possible) for Shai Bolton, add that to 2024r1 and maybe west coast would accept it, but very unlikely.

Bolton is an A grader and Baker is very near close and are both younger than Taranto and Hopper trading them out to get A grade players to build around Taranto and Hopper is totally counterproductive

Nope because Harley Reid is more relevant in terms of premiership, it is proper window management

Young stars help attract others to the club like Houli and Grigg. We need a base including a Harley Reid to get buy in from others to help build the list in the short to medium term.

If players think we are in for a long trough they will not come

No it’s not and Harley Reid is just one player and we would be giving up two of our best for 1 who would still take at least 3 years before delivering consistently at afl level at a minimum

If we use your logic the suns and Carlton should both be in flag contention due to Walsh and Rowell

No, because I am factoring in draft hauls for at least 4 years as well as FA and the use of a bigger cap for us to entice others.

So really ten plus stars, not 2 of you best that will be near or 30 when we are contending next

Gold Coast is a classic example of a FU. Instead of trading Bowes they should have got Phillipou

If they had Phillipou along with Humphrey, Rowell, Anderson etc.. they would be a lot more imposing and attactive

Carlton traded in a lot of players like Cerra and others on big money like etc... RFC would not be that stupid surely

You could literally do the same without trading Bolton and Baker the only difference is we aren’t selling the farm for Ried who you seem to have a weird fixation with simply because he is this years number 1 golden boy

Next year and the year after will all have similar players nothing special about Ried in the context of pick 1 hopefuls over the past 20 years

How do you know??? Why do you think Bolton will stick for another 5-6 years?? Baker might leave anyway and go back closer to his WA roots

Bolton is already contracted for another 5 so yes
I think he will stick around

The bottom line is he and Baker are not 18 or 17.

The most exciting players at the moment are Humphrey and Wardlaw. Nick Daicos is yesterdays news

How good will Sheezel be??

We can help pay for Bolton while he is at West Coast and building and RFC

If you cannot see we are getting surpassed by younger talent, your dreaming, we need to join the youth party or we wither and die
