I think Jacko deserves his own thread especially now he is working in the media. I have appreciated him almost from the first interview he gave after drafting - but it was his mindset and style of play that I have appreciated the most.

He was our best player over 2 finals last year. Ken has acknowledged he was sensational for us. He was robbed of the best finals player award because the club forgot about it as we were out of the finals for so long.

As soon as Jacko got injured last year we went from 5-0 to 5-5 before we balanced up to replace him which was another couple of weeks away.

And in this age of Fear the Beard I love his honest Abe Lincoln look.

He is back on twitter - got back on a few weeks ago after a couple of years off - here are a couple of beauties.

These days he is our most underrated footballer by the general AFL fan in my opinion.

Judging by the drafts and trading board most dont even have him in the top 30 players of the 2008 draft, but then I guess the average AFL fan is still awaiting our tumble back down the ladder cause of like a harder fixture and stuff.

My love for Jacko started before he played a game for us.
In November 2008, my grandmother, the rock of our family passed away.
About a 3-4 weeks later My dad was at the Glanville, having a beer as he does. Jacko and the port boys were there having a few drinks as they do every off season, my mum came to pick my dad up, my mum as always is wearing a port top. A few boys got around her, gave her a pay on the back and she was smiling again, for first time in a long time.
Jacko personally went up to my mum, and chatted to her for almost an hour. He said to her "I've moved away from home, I love my mum. I have know idea what you are going through, but can't imagine anything worse right now"
He bought her and the old man a drink a toasted to my nan. Since then I have had nothing but respect for the man, and my mum has nothing but praise and it's a story she'll tell to anyone who will listen.

Jacko's discipline has improved out of sight under Kenny H's coaching, no longer is he giving away those ridiculous 50 metre penalties he could be relied upon to do on a very regular basis under the previous coaching regimes.

His lateral movement, which has been non existent from day one ( who could forget Kepler Bradley showing him the ball and then dodging around him like he was an abandoned refrigerator stuck in the mud a few years ago? ) looks to at last have improved significantly as well.
Maybe some specialist agility coaching has had an effect?

His ruckwork has improved beyond recognition as well, to where he can be relied upon to give Lobbe a breather when required.

Was there any truth to the rumour when he was coming out of contract during our dark years (maybe 2012) he had a list of demands he wanted assurances of before he re-committed. And i don't mean a Bryce Gibbs list of where the club is at but rather things he wanted to see such as facilities, mentoring. coaching etc that he thought the club needed?

I reckon the lack of lateral movement was the long term issues with tearing nerves off his knee at the U/18 champs - or just before in 2008. In many ways we lucked out that he got that injury and so many clubs overlooked him. He was a big tip for a high first rounder before the knee injury. If you get videos of him kicking before his knee injury you see that it effected his kicking style a fair bit.

Always loved Wacky Jacky Boy... If he played for a Vic team, would already be touted as AA for this season.
Love that he goes under the radar a bit, as other clubs underestimate him, however I dont think it will occur for too long.
