I will say that I don't agree with the CA XI concept, I think majority of the team aren't ready for List A cricket and would learn better if they were around the senior guys of the state team if CA wanted the young guys to experience what professional cricket is about.

I'm sceptical of the concept, but the point is that these guys wouldn't be around the senior guys of the state team.

If you move the test players back to their normal squads, the CA XI suddenly looks a bit like this

Ryan Gibson
Chris Green
Josh Lalor
Kurtis Patterson
Ryan Carters +
Will Bosisto
Tom Beaton
Marcus Harris
Simon Mackin
Joel Paris
Ian Holland
Jimmy Pierson
Marnus Labuschagne
Ryan Lees
Jake Doran

Much more competitive.

Going to be ugly for CA XI. WA will probably give Bancroft some games in there

Stoinis in for Christian and bats at 3, Wade to 7, Holland in for Ahmed

I actually like this whole cup format.

Also reckon that Andrew Tye owes his professional career to it
If it wasn't for his injury, it would have been Joel Paris' 'break out performance' and maybe come close to cementing a shield spot.

fitness permitting, Joel Paris was always going to have a breakout performance
Absolutely no doubt that he would, but if it was the 'old' format, Hogan for one would be back and possibly taking games off Paris and of course it would require Paris to be fit season round.

There is no way Jake Doran doesn't get a spot in Tasmania's batting line up, even with James Faulkner coming back.

So these would be the hypothetical best XIs?

Nice try with the Tasmanian side but there is no way Doolan will open for us. Paine and Dunk will open for Tasmania. Doolan will probably bat at 3. I can see Faulkner batting ahead of Gulbis as well.

Our starting 11 would probably look something more like this:

1. Ben Dunk
2. Tim Paine
3. Alex Doolan
4. George Bailey
5. Jake Doran
6. James Faulkner
7. Evan Gulbis
8. Xavier Doherty
9. Andrew Fekete
10. Sam Rainbired
11. Jackson Bird

Warriors changes to squad.

Ins: Cameron Bancroft, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Jhye Richardson, Adam Voges

Outs: Tom Beaton, Will Bosisto, Marcus Harris, Nathan Rimmington (injury), Jonathan Wells

Well that's a surprise.

Feel bad for Bosisto, Beaton, Harris and Wells.

Also really surprised Bancroft made the cut over Harris.

I'm guessing that with Jhye's promotion that the CA XI is now going to be full of players like Harris and Bosisto?

Shame for those blokes who missed out.

Saw that the other day, if he can sustain that, then he could finally bat his way into contention.

I think Siddons has told him this could be your final shot at the big time. Don't live with regret.
