The open Mic was a brilliant watch. I really do wish the board did things properly and didn't * our team up. I do miss Voss as coach (nothing against Leppa of course as I rate him too) his presence around our club was so great. I wonder if since he wants to be involved with a club but not on coaching level if he may return to the gabba in another role? Maybe it's too soon but I can dream!

5. Joel Patfull doesn't get the recognition he deserves
What key defenders had failed to do in the opening five rounds, Joel Patfull managed with aplomb on Anzac Day. Nick Riewoldt had been unstoppable before the Saints met the Lions in Wellington, with 30 AFL Coaches Association votes and 17 goals to his name. He was kept to one goal, however, by Patfull, who was exceptional for four quarters at Westpac Stadium. A former Port Adelaide rookie who took the hard road to the AFL, Patfull has won the past two Brisbane Lions club champion awards. However, he is yet to be nominated for All Australian selection. The 29-year-old was the key player in the club's first win of the season, but his talents remain underappreciated outside the Gabba. – Nathan Schmook

Close was the one that they nearly jumped the gun on announcing a few weeks back? Skoob?

I think that's right, and they've kept that silhouetted picture with one more space up on the Lions site since then. I think there were also whispers on the board that Lester had re-signed, or was going to re-sign, but I'm sceptical until I see a silhouette confirming it.

This video must be old, because he talks about hopefully getting a senior game.

It was never revealed who the next was to be.
Interesting though, that such a signing would take so long.
No disrespect to Michael (really happy he's signed on) but I would expect he would have agreed to terms pretty simply.

His agent may have seen a few more $$$$ once they picked him at the start of the season

Lol.

New role, new challenges for McLaghlan.

GILLON McLachlan has taken the reins from Andrew Demetriou as the League's chief executive, and he has a number of challenges to confront. These are the big ones.

9. The Brisbane Lions
Membership and attendance numbers are down, the club lost $1.5 million last year and a group of key young players departed. The AFL has supported the club on its Springfield development and board composition for 2014, and financial assistance will continue. Like the recent expansion clubs, the AFL wants the Lions to succeed.

Not a lot of evidence to support that last sentence.

They could start by not interfering and hand picking our CEO's for us. The money needs to continue to flow until we have facilities that compare with other clubs. They did admit they took their eyes off us while Suns were brought in. Will be interesting to see if they actually try to correct that or not.
