North Melbourne and the value of making finals

Exactly, no guarantee's.

I think we all witnessed on the w/end North already tucking their tails and running, it's what they do next that's important, instead of referencing an arbitrary point in time as a get out of jail card for losing a final by 15 goals.

Essendon 2009 - 96 points loss - 2010 = 14th
Essendon 2011 - 62 point loss - 2012 = 11th

Would have to be really weak to be worse than Essendon.

For those of you arguing that VFL flags should not count in the premiership tally because it was pre- AFl; what a load of bollocks.

Going by your logic the only flag that should count is the 2012 flag, after all GWS have made the 18 team competition we have today.

It is a stupid argument. Interstate teams joined a renamed and rebadged VFL.

Maybe you could prise some money out of Gina and start your own league if you don't like it. You would be two peas in a pod, both have persecution complexes and a rabid desire to have it your own way, all the time, every time and bugger anyone else.

Not sure why this argument is on a topic like this, relevance deprivation syndrome I guess.

It's North not Norf

Its only stupid if you follow a VFL team

one bonus for norf is the earlier retirement of a selfish sniper - it will help them slowly build a team culture.

It will be slow as they remain delusional

We may be delusional; but we are happy.

You sir on the other hand are a childish flog who obviously likes pulling the wings off of insects. Take your trash talk to Bay 13 where it, and you belong.

West Coast supporters, the only reason to support Collingwood if you are a neutral.

Rubbish. Again, if the AFL had instead been formed from the WAFL plus expansion clubs, and supporters of those expansion clubs came in and told Claremont, East Fremantle, Perth, Peel* and co that their flags prior to 1987 suddenly are irrelevant, you'd rightly tell us to get ****ed. And also accuse them of being arrogant Victorians and so on. You know it is true.

I haven't bothered to read this thread. Perhaps someone can enlighten me as to how far in before it turned to s**t trolls?

My guess is the OP.

This thread is top notch. North supporters should probably take a step back when trying to argue with Eagles supporters. They just bend us over in the hot perth sun.

3 out of our first 4 games were against top 8 teams this year including the reigning premiers. We still made finals after playing top 8 teams early in the piece.

And you did horribly forthe first half of the season and seemed out of contention for finals. Your easy draw helped you get into the 8, without that you finish 9th yet again.
Thankfully an easy draw is no help once finals start and you were shown to be the bottom 8 side that you are.

We won 10 of our last 12 games. Nothing to do with our easy draw - we also defeated 2 top 4 teams in that run as well as teams that finished 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th who were all a big chance to take our spot. You can make rubbish up if you like but your crap throw away lines show how little you understand the game.

Your only proving my point, your last 12 games consisted of mostly bottom 8 sides and you only managed 2 wins against quality opposition. Without that run home you were 9th again.
The true quality of your side was shown on sunday, you were a bottom 8 side with a good draw. Good draws dont help you in finals.

LOL. More references to arbitrary points in time as a get out of jail card for losing a final by 15 goals.

Try to stay on topic.

We beat all the contenders for 8th - we earned our spot.

Thats bigfooty logic, it only means you were better than them on the day, nothing more.
By your own logic because you lost to port you deserved to be below them right?

The north supporters calling for brad scotts head seem to have been vindicated, zero growth in 3 years has to be disappointing.

10 wins in 2011 - 14 wins in 2012 - zero growth?

So if WCE lose this weekend they have gone backward and if they lose next week by your gorilla maths they also have had zero growth.

The three times I've checked it's been Ess-North, then someone else-North, and then WCE-Freo trolling.
So at least it's got some variety.
So BF encapsulated then?

Grrrreat!

2 extra wins with the introduction of gws plus an extra against gold coast leaves you one win better than last year, amazing growth!

And with the eagles injury list, we've done alright. But now we've got most of the players back, if we lose to the pies at the G this weekend then yes, I would count this as a stagnant year for west coast. But being stagnant while winning finals is a whole lot better than being stuck in the mediocre state that north are in.

So by your logic it doesn't matter who you beat - your ladder position should be dictated by where some WCE Big Footy Flog thinks they should finish?

FYI a number of the teams that we beat on the way through were in the 8 at the time. If you cannot win games you cannot expect to stay in there.

No, your true ladder position was shown up by the performance on sunday. Was that honestly a team that deserved to play finals?

North beat Geelong, Richmond, St Kilda, Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood to make the 8 (all finals sides or contenders).
North came into the game having played their finals each week for the previous 8 weeks - they were spent by the time they got to Perth.
North brought in 3 key players who were not match fit.
West Coast would have beaten any of the other teams on Sunday (top 8 or not) - everything they touched turned to gold.

Yes I think they deserved to play finals and they will be better for the experience next year.
