Our 13 outweighs anything in the afl!! It was achieved in times most people I know lives!!!!! More importantly, I have seen 8!!!! My non hawk friends and family hate me.
When you run through the numbers and break things down, it's really quite remarkable.
Only club to win flags in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and 2010s.
13 flags since 1961. Next nearest since then is Carlton with 8. The Bummers have 6.
Most since we joined the league in 1925.
Most in the AFL era with 5.
We have 4 flags since Essendon and Carlton's last one.
We have won 9 since Richmond's last one.
We have won 13 flags in less time than Collingwood have won 2.
We have won 12 flags in the same time that Geelong have won 3.
We have won more flags in the last 3 years than the Saints and Dogs have in the last 90+ years.
I could go on.....

Only 7 flags in my lifetime (28)

Same strike rate as my old man...who saluted 7 times in his first 28 years (1960 to 1988)

No wonder the minnows dislike us

Same, to think that we had to cope with another team winning the flag for 75% of the years since we were born.

13 in my lifetime. Privileged to have attended 11 personally and 3 with my wife and kids.

Blessed to be part of the Hawks family.

12 in my lifetime.

Looking forward to seeing at least another 12 before I depart.
Same, but only 11 I can actively remember and tell you about...

I was just a tad too young to remember 71

So deprived...

Same with me.

That's why I'm resigned to the fact that the 24th in my lifetime might have to be animatedly described to me. ;)

Okay, this tells me we as a supporter group not only lucky but bloody OLD! Anyway, when I said 8, I meant the ones I watched 'Live' , but in lifetime calculations it's 11 baby!

Yep...we need to continue to expect the high Hawthorn standards of all involved with the club....including the supporters, while giving people the opportunity to develop into outstanding representatives of the HFC whatever their role may be.

I dont particularly revell in the fading away of a club for however long and for whatever reason....but Carlton and Essendons has been totally self inflicted.

The difference is when we appeared to be fading away we were looking at complete extinction. Essendon and Carlton are enjoying a financial golden economic era for the game, unlike 1996.

I love seeing those two clubs, my most hated (Carlton followed by essendon), languishing. Knowing that their supporters are hoping for something yet ultimately receiving zero by season's end. They were smart asses for far too long. Let them enjoy more decades of pain.
