am I the only one who doesn't give two shits about the number?
Just a number and players are more than just a number.
You're not alone mate

Not for the story at all IMO.What a f--king joke
Playing favourites with new draftees and going against the principle that has been in place since Hardwick arrived
Just for the media story
BullshitNot for the story at all IMO.
He obviously has family links to the number. Fair enough IMO.
If they where going to give it to someone it deserves to be him.
they not told us the Rookie #'s yet..... DrMikeMarkov 31
Broad 35
No problem with it. If we were drafting a young Matthew Richardson would you be happy with him getting 12? Of course. He is an exception. Maurice was his great uncle and he thinks of him as his grandfather. 17 is the right number for him. Give him every chance to do it proud.
And it's one of the most tresured numbers because of his grand fatherBullshit
It could have been put aside until he earns it, not just handed to him because of his surname
Its the most treasured number in Richmond history
No pressure on a kid we reached for in the first place
Who's not really his grandfatherAnd it's one of the most tresured numbers because of his grand father
More that they've tossed the tradition of new draftees wearing > 30 for him alone
Selective traditions are not traditions
Of which he's notFather/sons and grandfather/grandsons should be the only exception to that rule imo.
Just handing out a number based on a surname is living in the past, I'd hoped we'd moved on from this by now. I mean we had, but then we made an exception.Who ever got the number next would be under pressure. IMO it's best to give it to a family member.
We can't live in the past
I don't agree. We gave pick 12 up pretty quickly after Richo retired. That's why you wait until a player has shown that they'll make it before you give it to them
Like Vlastuin moving from #31 to #1 this year, or Dusty going from #36 to #4
