Because there is perceived to be bludgers out there and the average Australian tax payer (especially when they are struggling like now) doesn't care about people in circumstances perceived to be self inflicted (disability pensions and aged pensioners being thought of differently)

Yep there's a general apathy towards robodebt from the rusted ons that I know. Pretty much saying what was the big deal they went a bit overboard on some dole bludgers who need to get a job. Let that be a lesson. Just no empathy and complete ignorance to other people's problems. Self inflicted or not. It's dog eat dog with these people. Unless it directly affects them than you won't hear the end of it. True, but politics in general is hitting new lows in Australia. The ALP are doing their best to be LNP lite, just slightly better. Neither party stands for anything other than winning elections.

It's not just sky tho is it. Sky is emblematic of the political views of all Murdoch media which has a big foothold in this country and is read/viewed by plenty.
