Man made Climate change deniers believe in scientific fact. The Green religion operate by consensus.

It's why they need to tell themselves that 97% of 'experts' agree, no matter how many times it's shown to be garbage.

But I thought ending the carbon tax would be good for consumers and the business owners

Their have been warnings that knocking off 'renewables' would send the message for the power utilities to 'go for it'. Renewable energy systems were keeping a lid on greedy coal burners.

I guess Abbott will be pleased that he handed the utility giants an open cheque book.

It is stuff like this

Australian solar power researchers have achieved world-beating levels of efficiency, potentially making large solar plants more competitive with other energy sources such as coal.

A team from the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (PV) at the University of NSW has achieved 40.4 per cent "conversion efficiency" by using commercially available solar cells combined with a mirror and filters that reduce wasted energy.

that shows how much we need a government willing to embrace green technology. It would help the environment a lot and it would create a lot of jobs. Imagine if Australia could participate in creating solar panels. That industry would be worth billions.

They won't do that with the global market in mind, but if we add another <1% from more domestic production, they'll suddenly decide to research and innovate our way to glory?

Research and innovation is the key to Australia's economic future and cutting the budget for science while at the same time trying to kill green energy innovation is going to hurt Australia for decades to come. There is no reason why Australia can't be the leaders in green technology.

Maybe the reason is because people expect the government to be the ones investing in this research.

If it's sure to be so awesome, why don't people put their own money into it?

Of course they expect it. It is natural to expect it. A lot of scientific innovation only happens because of government funding.

If Australia does not start innovating then we are going to find our economy getting worse and worse.

I mean other than WiFi what has Australia invented in recent history that the entire world uses?

Spray on skin.
product activation software.
jindalee over the horizon radar
anti flu medication
cervical cancer vaccine.

and others (losts of DNA related stuff).

Not bad for a country that's really a tiny part of the world.

It isn't bad at all but it is important to turn this innovation into real world economic benefits. Coming up with a new advanced solar panel could be worth billions to the Australian economy if it is done right. The Australian government needs to encourage innovation, not stifle it.

The report states: “The new conservative Australian government has apparently made good on last year’s announcement and reversed the climate policies previously in effect. As a result, the country lost a further 21 positions in the policy evaluation compared to last year, thus replacing Canada as the worst-performing industrial country.”

Two country's that have had lone wolf terrorists recently. Whose actions directed attention away from their governments actions. Two countries with the easiest and best access to the arctic areas melting. That melting opens up amazing amounts of resources.

Now i know our government doesn't pander to mining companies, not sure about Canada.

That can't be right. The stats were based on 2012 emissions when Julia 's carbon tax was saving the world.

Incorrect. They were showing some improvement under Labor but they have gone backwards very quickly with Abbott

The introduction of the carbon price had led to a reduction of emissions from the power sector, a process being reversed now. Pitt & Sherry, an energy consultancy, estimated last week the rise in emissions from the electricity industry since the end of the carbon prices would lift the nation's CO2 pollution level by 1.4 per cent if the increase was to continue for a year.

Because emission indicators account for about 80 per cent of the evaluation, Australia has tended to be among the laggards on the survey. The introduction of the carbon tax in 2012 only resulted in Australia's ranking improve to 50th among the nations.

That should embarrass the Abbott government but instead I bet he will wear it like a badge of honour.

Awww are you embarrassed when you walk about on the streets?
