Not the point though. While he deserves credit for its growth -along with many other contributors- he has been well rewarded for his time.

Well on two levels one that 72% of the population support it and as a liberal I think it's easily justified. The problem is the ALP for all its progressive chatter is generally supported by neither progressive or open minded individual as Julia recognised.I know its another argument, but how is it the right thing ? Its just the wishes of yet another lobby group

That's what the polling suggests 72%, 48% rusted on.Really ? Youd get that in a referendum ?
I suspect youd get more real support for the death penalty.
I never really got the "prove you are progressive by doing this" particualrly when the lobby group is just using it for an end and is not a general supporter.
Maybe the lobby group would be better of donating squillions to a certain party, but the money where the mouth is
Kennet didnt get a gig either. Maybe not corrupt enough
Btw wasnt gillard "hired" by a law firm ?
Isn't there a rule against posting ads for your old stuff? There's a piece of Gillard memorabilia on Gumtree now for all you fans

Gillard will be largely forgotten about, except for being the first female Prime Minister and perhaps the last.
I don't think even ALP people will hark back to her time in office, as they do for Gough, Hawke & Keating.Well apart from arguing against your own point!, Gillard was part of a tumultuous period of Australian politics. That alone is guaranteed to give her a spot in the history books.
I think it likely Abbott will be the most forgettable of the two. I guess only time will tell.
She successfully passed a lot of positive legislation in a minority govt. She was applauded loudly at Gough's funeral. Your analysis is incorrect.I don't think even ALP people will hark back to her time in office, as they do for Gough, Hawke & Keating.
My analysis will be proven correct in the medium term, rather than the short term. She successfully passed a lot of positive legislation in a minority govt. She was applauded loudly at Gough's funeral. Your analysis is incorrect.

Who or what is "Lebbo"?Geez you've made a very confident ( or self assured! ) start to BF.
Please dont get too much like Lebbo.

There is no position of Prime Minister in the constitution.Do you think that the Australian constitution will soon be amended to have no position of Prime Minister? Or do you honestly think that in the many centuries to come, we will never ever have a female Prime Minister again?
Every time I see the Mad Monk I realise how fortunate we were to have her at the helm.Have any of you posters regret your postings after watching "THE KILLING SEASON".?
She was applauded loudly at Gough's funeral.
So its inconsistent with being in business and being a Fabian?
I suspect if she had waited and come to the office after Crazy Kev had handed it over to her, she would have made a good PM. Stood absolutely no chance and faced enormous challenges. Some of her own making, some bad decisions she made. But essentially she was hounded non stop, for pretty trivial stuff really -Thomson, Slipper, carbon tax shift, -such minor stuff for such over reaction. When I see how much more serious Abbott's actions are and he gets a free run-no fuss really about his significant and constant lying, his witch hunts, his failure to hold his nerve-squeals like a baby, his breaking of conventions re citizenship and boats... Herald sun-gutter rag cheerleads for him. Amazing. If it was Gillard, we would not hear the end of it.
The fact he is trashing the things that have made the country such a great place to live, is a worry.
Why isn't this thread in QT? Are all the mods asleep?
The ghosts of moderators past...Couldn't this have been posted in the multitude of Abbott threads?
I think you are paranoid Ratts! The ghosts of moderators past...
The second one is from DR's "Abbott's School Reform" thread. Funny how 'conservatives' like to intimidate others into not expressing themselves.
