Can not find the sauce

Saw it on the CA website, myself.

Good move sending Marshy back for some cricket, but not sure why they wouldn't just send a fringe Shield player to sub in the field.
A Tom Cooper, or a Cam White type of player would be better IMO.

Silly replacement as Maxwell needs to play more red ball cricket if he's to take the test step. Should have sent an upcoming player across and given them the chance to learn something by being around the Australian setup.

Should have stuck with Sayers and Marsh given that they're already there but what do I know.

And yeah given our strong desire to select an allrounder and the fact that Maxwell barely gets to play first class cricket, this is a very shortsighted move.

Maxwell getting his s**t together can only benefit Australian cricket.

This is a strange decision from CA, but i think i read somewhere that Maxwell was not going to be able to play this upcoming shield game anyway as the T20 squad leave on the 28th Feb, which is the last day of the shield game v Tas

However we may have Finch available to play so he can prove his fitness before they leave, but it will be for only half a game again.

Has a side ever had so many mid match changes in a single season. Pattinson twice, Siddle, Stoinis and now Finch subbing in or out during matches this season.

Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers squad
Matthew Wade (C)
Fawad Ahmed
Aaron Ayre
Scott Boland
Dan Christian
Travis Dean
Peter Handscomb
Jon Holland
Jake Reed
Marcus Stoinis
Chris Tremain
Cameron White

IN: Ayre, Holland, Reed, White
OUT: Clint McKAY (omitted), Glenn MAXWELL (Aus Test), Rob QUINEY (calf)

Ayre as a specialist batsman?

No, I think they want Wade as a specialist bat. Stoinis will probably have to open and put White at 3 unfortunately.

I thought he was going to play in some 2nd XI game and was always going to miss this game?

EDIT: shows what I know. *shrugs*

John Hastings, Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch were all unavailable for selection with Hastings and Finch to depart for South Africa on Saturday while Maxwell has already joined the national squad in New Zealand.

“Hastings, Maxwell and Finch were all unavailable for this match,” Victorian Chairman of Selectors Andrew Lynch said.

“All three players are fit, however, and will be available for selection in Australia’s side for the three-match Twenty20 series against South Africa.
