O'Keefe will also be able to nominate in the National Draft this year ( with a price on himself) - would be an interseting move to see what his value would be worth then

Geez with all of the money they are offering these old timers now how does Carlton expect to keep Murphy and Gibbs in 1 or 2 years when there contact comes up for renewal. Not being picky Carlton supporters but many clubs have purchased players cause they had the room in the cap however when it came time to sign the young guns no money was left so these youngins felt cheated and ran away.

Seriously, the safest bet nowadays is by running front loaded contracts so that players like Buddy earn the big bucks this year and possibly next and it drops dramatically in the 3rd year. Play it smart and you can keep the young players 2 to 3 years longer without the worry of the salary cap - after that it could be an issue but hopefully by then you have won at least 1 flag - possibly two.

He will signe at sydney or end up at west coast . Carlton need to win a premership fast as every club is getting sick of them and trading with carlton will end up like the West Coast attitude. West Coast wont rade with carlton anbd lots of clubs will take this stance simular to supporters. Flags are earnt not bought. And to all the carlton boys who go on about are drug history . Ben cousins was tested 14 times with no positive swabs. SO suc# it.

rofl so that is the terminology Carlton use to see how they can pay a player under the table these days.

Carlton accountant: "hmmm you know, I don't think we actually have a spare 500k for the next 4 years... hang on... carry the 5, add the 7... you know, I think we have it! ROK on 400k per year and we'll ahem compensate him like we do every other player with ummm you know."

Better get that forklift licence Ryan because you'll need it!

Before any Carlton posters retort with their usual crap just get ****ed!

I've had enough. (Might get a yellow for this but who cares).

And I had been feeling sorry for Melb supporters, understanding what it felt like to be a team with no chance of winning games after what we went through over the last 6-7 years..may have to rethink that:thumbsd:

I'm sure RandB is now gutted and very remourseful about having made such remarks. :D:thumbsu:

For O'Keefe to nominate for the National Draft, it would require the Swans' blessing, and would have to formally delist him before the November draft.

Not entirely confident that we'd be able to offer anything that Essendon couldn't in terms of a dollar figure. Whilst it's borderline draft tampering, I think it's fair to say that O'Keefe would turn around to the WA/SA clubs and say he doesn't want to play there. Formally could be achieved by requesting a one year deal only, and threatening to walk from either after that year.

If the one year deal is offered, then I slightly favour our chances a bit more, as I think we'd have more back ended contracts than Essendon who would probably be front-ended.

If we really needed to put it beyond a joke, another option, would be to delist a player or two who would attract very little interest from a club in the PSD, that's out of contract and commands some coin (i.e. Houlihan), and then delist them, and redraft them at a base salary/reduced rate in the PSD.

It's ambitious at best.

If I was in charge of the AFL Carlton would be my first stop they are cheating again surely , Still trying to buy premierships never learn.
Perhaps Hawthorn fans can enlighten us how they were planning to fit Judd into their salary cap for this year.

Hawthorn were interested in Judd's services last year, but their cap is so tight, they wanted ROK to take less money to sign him.

Only Carlton cheats.

Not our fault you're broke and haven't yet recovered from losing your draft picks for cheating the salary cap.

You should have tanked last year to get Kreuzer plus the PP to hand you picks 1 and 2 in this draft.

Again, not our fault you're a poorly run club...

We'll draft O'Keefe and trade him for a 2009 draft pick. Sounds like a win.

Hopefully he'll see sense and re-sign with the Swans.

Nowhere did it say the Hawks couldnt pay for ROK, they said they would not break their payments structure. The Hawks had the 3rd lowest cap in fact in 2008 and have heaps of room in 2009

Last year we were the lowest paying club and this year still one of the lowest. A lot of our younger stars (Franklin, Roughy, Lewis ) are not on big money yet but will be on much bigger money when they do their next contracts.

As for o'keefe he wanted $600,000 a year. I don't think he is worth a cent over $400,000. If carlton want to pay him 600k then go ahead. You would be getting ripped off.

I have no gripes if our club is going to comply with the 92.5% limit and I am not going to argue the fact that we are not exactly the most affluent club in the AFL. My gripe lies in that Carlton are pulling money out of their ass and paying players under the table and we all know it. I am happy for other clubs to reap the rewards of their success but Carlton are tanking, cheating, under the table ****ts. I actually hope Collingwood win a flag before your lot. Even though Collingwood get a great fixture and love to whinge, at least they play by the rules.

Couldn't give a ****.:thumbsu:

I may follow a battler club but at least they do it the honest way. I love the red and blue and one day they will come good and nobody will argue that they earnt it.

Yeah thanks for the reminder forgot that all the brains on here know whats going on with Carltons player payments.
IV never claimed that i know how the payments are going at the blues............but i do recon that vis might need to look at a bigger premises in the next few years....................but hay,there,sss..........NO.......no ,..................way NO. SURLY NOT............do you think.................

Vlad would be making sure the ink in his poison pen was ready to go if ROK did go to Carlton.

So it can go 3 ways:

1. Sydney pay him what he wants for as long as he wants;
2. He goes into the PSD and names his price;
3. He does (2) and goes to Carlton and the club is investigated.

Couldn't give a ****.:thumbsu:

Top post. I hope you blokes win one soon. As long as it's not againt us, i'll be cheering.

Can't see ROK getting to Carlton but after the Warnock VICTORY this would be the iceing that opposition supporters deserve. Painful I know, enjoy parisites.

It would be a great result for the Dons if they get ROK in the PSD.

It would mean that we managed to hang onto Lovett, signed Prismall and ROK and lost pick 39. One can only dream.
