Totally agree. Rafa's defensive nature, which to be fair has often served us well in 2-legged European ties, has burnt us year after year in the EPL.

A team with a lot of drawn matches generally reflects a conservative gameplan.

Last season we drew 13, the equal highest in the league. This season so far, we've drawn 8, which is again is currently the equal highest in the league.

I know this is simplistic but consider this scenario. If instead of drawing 8 games, we'd gone hell for leather in chasing 3 points and risked a loss, a 50-50 result would give us 4 wins and 4 losses for a total of 12 points.

It's better than 8 points for 8 draws isn't it? Puts us clear at the top.

Decent post and some fair points there. On the other hand, though, we've only lost the one league game all season. If we can somehow reach the end of the season having lost only the one match, it would be pretty hard to conceive of us not winning the title. Under your scenario, we'd have lost at least five matches this season out of 22. History suggests that teams which lose one game in every four-and-a-half don't win the title...

Rafa on Agger & Alonso injuries

Daniel Agger is facing a fitness battle ahead of this weekend's FA Cup clash with Everton - though Rafa Benitez expects Xabi Alonso to be ready despite an injury scare on Monday night.

A calf injury meant Agger was not in the squad to face the Toffees earlier this week and it is still unclear whether the Dane will be fit for Sunday.

Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "He was injured. He couldn't train normally.

"He is progressing now by working with the physios. He'll still need one or two days, so we'll see.

"It depends more on the physios than on me - we just have to wait."

Meanwhile, Alonso suffered discomfort after what was his first start since requiring seven stitches on his instep on Monday.

However, the 27-year-old is now back in training.

The boss added: "Xabi had a problem on Monday but he was training again today so I don't think he'll have any trouble for the weekend."

LIVERPOOL co-owner Tom Hicks has reportedly started discussions with a wealthy Middle East family over a possible £600 million ($A1.27 billion) sale of the English Premiership club.
English newspaper, the Daily Telegraph said on its website, preliminary talks are being held with the Kuwaiti Al Kharafi family, led by the world's 48th richest man Nasser Al Kharafi.

A purchase of Newcastle United by the Al Kharafi family last year had also reportedly been a possibility.

Sources have claimed both Hicks and co-owner George Gillett, who own Liverpool shares at 50-50 and therefore need to be in agreement to sell the club, both have a new willingness to find the right buyer.

The key negotiator from the Al Kharafi family is believed to be Nasser's nephew, Rafed Al Kharafi.

Construction, plus a number of other activities in banking, catering and tourism are the basis of the family's wealth, the site continued.

Liverpool's discussions with the Al Kharafi’s started when Liverpool's finance director, Phillip Nash, a close ally of Hicks, went to Kuwait earlier this week.

The talks with the Al Kharafi’s are in fact the second time within 12 months that the American owners have tried to sell the five-time European champions to the same family.

Useless spud Brouwer pissed off on loan to RKC Waalwijk in the Dutch Second division.

I was reading it at work today, and nearly broke down in tears of joy. I haven't seen a player that poor, at any age, ever.

Only player from his age group in the Ajax academy not to be offered some sort of contract. You can see why. Massive dud.

I think Torres will play this weekend, Rafa has hinted that he will start against Everton, saying he needs more matches which is good. Hopefully he scores and his confidence can start building. We will need his goals as the season pushes on.

Im disappointed at dropping valuble points on the weekend, right near the end of the game, but were still right in this title race. We just have to find some form, hopefully our form will pick up now that FT is back. Xabi and Gerrard of course, are key also.
