Eboue = goal scoring machine

Ha, did you hear the ground announcer use that exact description of him after his first goal?

Why the hell did Eboue take the penalty and not Vela? Vela wins it and is good at penalties, therefore Vela should take it.

Although i shouldn't complain, i would just have rathered Vela score in the premier league.

Smart managing by Wenger. An Eboue bereft of confidence is of even less value to the club as one who genuinely thinks he belongs out there. He is the one player who would have the most to gain from the love that was in the air at Emirates yesterday arvo. Especially after his audience barrage from a couple of months back.

Bendtner- Pros: Gets in to good positions, works hard, good on the ball
Cons: Can't finish, doesn't take advantage of his size/strength-especially when heading

Adebayor- Pros: Decent finisher, strong, can dominate, good header
Cons: Lazy, bad positioning, always offside

Gonna have to give it to Ade. Bendtner is too much like Van Persie and Eduardo except they can finish. In terms of a big striker who wins headers and holds up the ball, Ade is a class in front.

It's not a matter of comparing who's better ATM. Clearly, Ade is the superior player.

It's not all bad for Nick, he is not a total spud is all I'm saying. It's not just luck that he is at the end of many chances. He knows where to run and take up good positions, links up better with the midfielders, etc. Finishing is the obvious weakness in his game.

He created the first goal with the pass to Theo. If that didn't go in, could've been another frustrating game with less space to work in up front.

Villa have the Pool and Man utd both away in their next two fixtures. We should look to get clear from here.

Don't get too carried away lads. The fixture suggested we were always looking the goods to draw level during March, but April is a very different matter. We essentially swap fixture difficulties with Villa over the last month of the season.

If we go through 4th, it's gonna be neck and neck.

Exactly. A couple wins against rubbish opposition hasn't sewn it up yet, but I think we'll do it.

Here's the remaining fixtures of both ...

Arsenal

Newcastle (A)
Man City (H)
Wigan (A)
Liverpool (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Portsmouth (A)
Chelsea (H)
Man Utd (A)
Stoke (H)

Almost all of Arsenal's away fixtures are all tough. We generally struggle at Fratton Park and SJP.

Should win the home fixtures (Chelsea aside). Even then, no result is certain with us.

Aston Villa
Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (A)
Everton (H)
West Ham (H)
Bolton (A)
Hull (H)
Fulham (A)
Middlesbrough (A)
Newcastle (H)

On recent form, they will definitely drop points, at least, in all of the next four games. After that it's an easier set of fixtures than ours.

I do think we'll get there with a couple of games to spare BTW.

Rosicky has been delayed by another week with a minor setback. Wenger says two more weeks until he starts full training.

By the way how good has Song been this last month? Absolutely dominated the midfield and hopefully if he cements his spot in the team and keeps improving he could be this DM we have been looking for.:thumbsu:

One for the Eboue fans

http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/9343042/Eboue-set-for-new-Gunners-deal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed the club have agreed a new contract with Emmanuel Eboue.

Eboue has had a mixed season after being booed off by a number of his own supporters at the Emirates Stadium earlier this year.

But the Ivorian has impressed in recent weeks, and he came off the substitutes' bench to net a brace in the 4-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

And Wenger has confirmed that an agreement over fresh terms is in place, telling the club's official website: "We have already tied up Eboue's contract - that has been done for a long time."

French coach Wenger went on to urge striker Nicklas Bendtner to take inspiration from Eboue after the Dane came in for criticism for some poor finishing versus Rovers.

Wenger said: "Of course Eboue's an example (for Bendtner).

"Bendtner will (turn it around) I am not worried about that, I was more worried about Eboue at one stage. Fans want performances and that is the only way we have to respond.

"I am pleased that Eboue starts to score because it looked to us that he could never score goals.

"If he had not scored his goal, and not scored last week, he would not have taken the penalty and that tells you the importance of confidence."

On squad news for tonight, Arshavin is in some doubt although I reckon he will play, Fabianski is playing anyway as it is the FA Cup bu Almunia won't b o the bench and is in serious doubt for the Newcastle match, Clichy will be rested, Eduardo is not back, and Ramsey is not in the squad.

if he gets ripped, he could be the next essien. who knows?

What a difference a month makes.

Not that long ago we were destined for the UEFA Cup 6+ points behind Villa now we are fouth and playing well.

AA unlikely to play, according to the player himself:

I can't even step on my foot now. It's like a knife cut - not very deep but quite painful. I hope to recover in four or five days. I'll do everything possible to be fit by Saturday's match against Newcastle.

Thanks Allardyce. :thumbsd:

To my fellow gooners, i pose a question:
If fit, which combination of Rosicky, Nasri, Arshavin and Walcott would you have on the wings if fit?

I only wish we could play this ...

Walcott - Fabregas - New DM - Arshavin
Nasri
van Persie

The baby Jesus would have wept at that level of awesomeness.

But RVP really just is not suited to that role. Although, nowhere is it written he has to play like a 6'4 brick shithouse just because he's up front on his own. Could it work?

very tough question walcott for me is definately one then arshavin as the other, nasri then rosicky. id have both rosicky and nasri def on the bench and use rosicky as a cover for fab as he has good playmaking abilities

edit screw mine DB10's is way better!!!!
is it possible at all to play rosicky next to fabregas or would that put too much pressure???
Id just love to see Arsenal really at full throttle

-------Eduardo----------------
---------------Arshavin--------
Nasri--Fabregas--Song--Walcott
Clichy--Djourou--Toure--Sagna

...is what i want to see. Eduardo is the best finisher we have. With Fabregas, Arshavin and Nasri handing him premium passing and with his great finishing, that team will certainly bag a few goals. Rosicky on the bench; he is versatile and can play on either wing or in the middle. Is good for a freakish goal or two so is a good impact bench player.
