Lindsay Thomas vs Taylor Walker - who will kick more goals in 11?

Lets be honest here... Taylor Walker should be compared to Jack Riewoldt... He will be a superstar and nothing short of it...

Lindsay Thomas is good, but not in the same league as Walker...

Walker will kick 60+ goals this year
Thomas will kick approx 30 goals

that is a huge call

Hard choice. I'll go with Lindsay Thomas because of his speed, not because I'm a North supporter

LOL ! so your saying simply because Lindsay Thomas is quicker he will kick more goals, I think Alwyn Davey is quicker then Ablett, but Ablett might be a little bit better :p

Not bigger than anyone tipping Jack to win the Coleman last year
fair call, walker would have to leap frog tippet to play a role that would allow him to be that effective though.

i cant see him kicking 60 from a kind of chf or 2nd tall role he playes

he may yet play ff power 09, and tbh i think kurt providing a contest at chf and taylor walker at ff is a far superior setup

Lindsay Thomas, at best, is a small forward who will kick 35 goals in a year, and could develop into a very good small forward.

Taylor Walker, at this stage of his career, at his best, is a KPF who could kick up to 60 goals this year and rip games apart, and could develop into a AA KPF.

Walker by about 25 goals (55, 30)

Bit of a no brainer when Walker is a key position forward and Thomas is a forward pocket...

Be interesting to see how Thomas actually lines up this year. In terms of positioning, the coaches line him up at full forward with the talls in the pockets and on the flanks. The forward setup is unusual to say the least and probably reflects why average teams struggle against North and why better teams run rings around North from defense and often have small defenders as best on ground. He gets a high proportion of delivery and on the rare occasion he gets on fire, he can be quite damaging. He has a strange relationship with the umpires and on a bad day could give away a free at every contest, but if allowed, pushes smaller opponents in the back and takes a chest mark. His main strength is a quickish first side step from having a large arse. After 10- 15 meters he slows down quite considerably and can often be seen reaching for a cramp when burnt by even medium pacers. He will kick approximately half his goals from the goal square, as defenders zone off him quite often due to his poor goal kicking. His goal kicking is inconsistent and will likely remain that way. His shooting between 25-45 metres is atrocious. If he plays every game, he could kick perhaps 35 and will tickle the average supporters groin on a few occasions with endless unusual shots at goal and a few dropped attempts at low level speckies. All in all, offers a highlight here or there, but needs major work on pace and fitness after a few steps, consistent kicking for goal, less selfish play, better, fairer tackling, and better decision making. While he remains a major pawn in the coaches plans, the side will continue to be inconsistent, travel poorly and have a percentage of 90.

Similar to how the coaches use Rawlings as a rebounder, they use Thomas in a role that isn't sustainable and is based around unsettling an opposition rather than building a structure that could possibly stand up against the top 4.

Hope to see him HTFU this year, and when he thinks he's going to lose a chase or contest, stay on his feet or not feign some mystery injury. Would prefer he didn't mope around with his head down and hands on hips the whole game and his auto-selection borders on ridiculous. Needs to learn vision and not just blaze away and would be the last player on the list you'd want for a kick after the siren.
Depending how he is used, his best and worst vary more than his fitness, kicking, attitude and decision making. Horrible one minute, lucky the next.

At this stage, IMO he's just not worth it. Huge white elephant that is missing crucial elements. Has way too many flaws in his game and mind to be a consistent professional footballer.

As a travelling circus act, he would be great, as a piece of a Premiership jigsaw, no way.

I may be wrong but tippet does not strike me as a player that could play further up field. there is i more running part and i dont see him marking on the lead 60-80 meters out, playing on (turning obviously) and kicking to someone elses lead or the hot spot. he has much going for him but walker would have him covered for movment and agility surly.

Except they are not good posts. They are the ramblings of an obsessed moron.

His entire premise is based upon the farcical notion that Thomas consistently plays as a stand alone full forward, and of course, that rarely happens.

The statement, "defenders zone off him quite often due to his poor goal kicking" is just patently ridiculous. It intimates that opposition coaches implement some hit/miss ratio for Thomas's accuracy based upon mathematical probabilities.

I suppose opposition coaches implement tea leaf readers to gauge how Thomas's goal kicking will result on any given night?

Calling this reasoning absurd is just paying it a compliment.

Go Mario, on fire.

You and Dahmer do have more in common than just self-righteous, obnoxious tainting of the Kangaroo brand.

Lindsay might be injured again, and when he comes back from injury it takes him FOREVER to get back into good consistent form. If he goes uninjured, he'd be a chance at the coleman, but there's always the chance something will happen and he'll lose his good form.

Bad loss for North last week, may go 0-3 now.

Really frustrating seeing Thomas line up at full forward and still ordering team mates out of the forward line.

Little clown just vanishes when the games there to be won and as usual North remain a mediocre, inconsistent side that can't travel and will get flogged by half decent sides.

Should be out performing Richmond and Melbourne but are going nowhere fast with Thomas' 'pissweak' occasional highlight white elephant game.

Is a make something out of nothing player half the time, make nothing out of something player for the remainder. Thinks he's Carey plays like Jane. Has been proven the side scores more heavily and wins more often when he's not playing.

To the tip for Thomas and some of the coaching that sets the club up to fail.

Early finals exits at best for the next 2 years.
