Totally agree J.

Walker is all but gone IMO as well, GWS will be his new home come next year.
I wouldn't say that.

If Walker plays 22 plus games, I think he'll stay and finish his career with the Blues.

Walker talks of the turning point

Similar situation to Russell who thought about leaving in 2006, but stayed on and flourished after we refused to trade.

Yeh I agree J , particularily after the end of last year and with all the $$$ they're throwing, but you never know..we maybe lucky
I'm not sure if he's guaranteed to stay at Carlton, but from what I hear he won't be moving out of Victoria at all.

I've marked this down as the biggest media beatup of 2011. It was a classic. He was never going to leave, and he wasn't even out of contract until the end of the season which hadn't even started! How many AFL players are out of contract at the end of 2011? And what proportion of them have already signed extensions? Get the point.

Anyway, it's benefited our club because if the fake rumors didn't happen, he would have re-signed without much media attention. Now our Club can use the re-signing for publicity purposes i.e. promoting the devotion of our list talent to the premiership cause. Media manipulation 101. We're masters of it down at Carlton. Perhaps we started the rumors deliberately? Surely not.

Carlton midfielder Marc Murphy ready to step up

CARLTON coach Brett Ratten says Marc Murphy is ready to take the AFL by storm.

"What he did last year to get ready for Round 1 and have that impact on the season, still finished third in our best and fairest, after he virtually did no pre-season after Christmas, was great," Ratten said.

"It just shows the quality of the individual and his ability to impact games.

"Now he's had a full pre-season, he looks thicker and he looks even a bit fitter than he has in previous years.

"I think he's ready to take the game by the scruff of the neck."

on 360 last night, Robbo was talking about Swan re signing. He said if he had $100, he'd put it on Murphy re signing very soon. Only thing holding it up is his manager being over seas right now

:thumbsu:

Very promising news.

Absolute gun is our Murph. Looked better than he has in 18 months tonight. :thumbsu:

Absolute gun alright. Cool on the outside, got in down and dirty when he needed to and really dug deep. Also while not the quickest player in top flight, has that really nice break away speed to get himself the space he needs. Sheer class.

3rd quarter was a bit down but so was the entire teams. had a brilliant 1st half. 4th quarter was good as well.

my mate put money on most disposals and was going to put it on judd. told him to get on murphy instead. turned his 20 into 100. if only id taken my own advice :(

Time to call Swanny for an appointment Marc.

Every other club in the AFL should be thanking us this week - we've suddenly made it a lot easier to re-sign players.

Agree,

And I think GWS are behind GCS in terms of player capacity.

I think it will take 2 years off Gazza's career. He is going to be smashed week in week out.

Watched the highlights of big Izzy.......he has less of an idea than Hunt.

Sign the deal Murph.

It was great for us to smash GCFC... not only that it was even better that Marc contributed first hand to the schlacking.

Hopefully its the final piece of the jigsaw that gets the signature on the Navy Blue dotted line.

Does anyone have any reliable updates on the progress of the talks?
