First impression is we were pretty scrappy and crap. We will need to improve a fait bit for next week.

We seemed to be utilising the switch and corridor much more in this game and the players were a little sloppy in it.

Our kickouts were much different to last week. We looked short down the middle more often that not. This too looked a little less than smooth but the fact we addressed the issue from last week was encouraging.

The Tigers were pretty pitiful I thought. I think they will get some kudos for that effort but I thought they were pretty ordinary. Their body language was all wrong after that melee. They seemed to think they had won something meaningful. And see what happened.

Big positives were Thomas, Reid and O'Briens efforts who all bounced back from underwhelming first round performances.

Don't mean to be so negative but it was a funny game of footy.

Yeah well I can't be as diplomatic as you Q saw nothing special, if fact this was as bad as it gets against a very poor side... There is not one positive to come out... To make things worse the reserves were even worse... Going to be a long long season and the filth next week will finally have their day...

PS if Seedsman, Sinclair and Dawes play next week I'll burn my membership....

Lucky I'm in a good mood.

Didn't help that we lost tarrant so early which hurt our rotation.

Did not like some of pendles & swans efforts tonight.
We also seem to struggle with teams that switch play across half back, maybe it's our zone that is not moving fast enough across to cover the loose man.

Liked: Marty's game , beams is back, keefe had a better game, Steele was good, Paine is a likely player

Did not like: Sinclair's efforts, Tooves was sub par, goldsack was average, our tackles did not stick, our skills were very poor at times. Also did not like Fasolos attitude after taking the mark in the goal square and that half assed attempt on the wing.

What was the deal with Taz?

We flat out sucked tonight. A few guys had great games, namely Reid and... well Reid. Keeffe had a better game this week too, and Dale had a decent second half. But really, we just reeked.

Very ordinary but let's take the positives..

1. Reid BOG after ordinary last week
2. Harry much much better
3. Clarke was good, looked composed and at home
4. Goldsack looked good and his attck on the ball was great
5. Jolly looked good, fit, strong, completely back.
6. We won, four points
7. Another game under the kids belt, games into kids = improves your 'depth'
8. Keeffe had a good game and is now looking like an option down back
9. Fasolo will be a 200 game player
10. Payne chased like a demon, took a couple of grabs, doubt he'll play next week though.
11. Luke Ball was great early
12 Trav was very good again, kicked better this week than last week.
13. Seedsman will be a player, you can just tell.
14. Didn't think Dawes was as bad as some think, his pressure and team play is great
15. Blair was very good, forgot him earlier.
16. Beams was very good first game back aswell

Anyhow, negatives ..

1. Taz injury 3-4 weeks probably
2. Swannie's form - yeah 32 disposals or whatever, so many wasted
3. Apart from 5 minutes, Richmond, who were so wasteful 70% of the game, outscored us!!
That's the major worry. And if we play like that next week, it could be a drubbing of
serious proportions.

I notice Daisy got votes in the Didaka, he had a hot 5 minutes, busted the game which was good, but not in the form of last year yet.

We'd want Wellingham in for Sinclair next week, Wood ( ?? Ceglar) to help Jolly in the ruck, Dawes back to FF and Paine out.

Hopefully Maxwell fit to replace Taz.

With Taz, they were saying a tear of the calf at the aponeurosis between muscle and start of the tendonous area.

Were estimating three or four weeks, which seems fair

When the whips are cracking later in the season the only important thing will be the four points.
Good improved performance from Harry and Keefe.

Fasolo will become a very important player and I reckon Seedsman will make it.
Sinclair being in the side will be a bad sign for our depth.

Was at the game.
Wasn't ridiculously impressed but a win is a win.

Geoff Walsh reported that tarrant was subbed out with really bad cramping do he may play next week....

Wow, that's the most specific diagnosis I've heard on match day in a long time!

Terrible news though, but thanks for the info.

Well I suppose that if we did play really crap and all that we at least can turn a game on its head if we want to. I think we'll win next week, we haven't played any good bar about a half and a bit against Hawthorn and 8 minutes against the tigers. Carlton, after having a bad preseason, have won 2 game and now sit second. Even though were not in great touch expect us to "wake up" and play some solid footy next week.

Was alright tonight. Not our best but not our worst performance either:

Positives:

- Jacko Paine and Seeds were solid.

- Reidy shone, in the absence of Taz.

- Blair did some nice crumbing from stoppages.

- Our accuracy, while not at it's best, was better than last week.

- Our ball use was more through the corridor, which I though worked well.

- Although we were sloppy mainly in the first, our pressure on the richmond forwards was good and we forced them to kick poorly.

- We kicked some nice goals too, and made the most of our opportunity more so than last week.

To Be Improved:

- Sinclair. Turned over the ball too much and was again shanking his goal shots. Really needs to go to the VFL and work on his disposal.

- Backline's opening quarter. Disposal was shocking. We basically gifted Richmond 2-3 goals, luckily for us they failed to convert their opportunities.

- Chris Tarrant. Was a blow to lose, particularly seeing as we had2 key backs, Reid and Keefe, usually there was more than 2 talls in their forward line.

- Chris Dawes in the ruck. Honestly, I don't think it's working. I mean he was beaten by Mullet.

- Harry O. Wouldn't be opposed to hand him to Tarks in the VFL. Needs to learn not to do the fend off and try and push through his opponents. Just gets himself caught in sticky situations. Was better than he was last week regarding that though.

Maybe we're tanking.

Anyway, Wood has to come in next week. Dawes is struggling to get into the match and putting him in the ruck is making him worse.

I thought Keefe and Seedsman showed some good signs and was pleased with Fasolo's lively play.

We can't play like millionaires every game and hopefully we're just working into the season with a view to peak in August/September.

Don't wanna sound negative but if we continue to put up performances like that we wont make the top 4. We have some star players but also some absolute duds. God forbid if we got a couple of injuries to our gun players. We'd be lucky to make the eight if that happened.

Was at the game, and it was pretty unimpressive bar the 3rd quarter. It's shameful we let the Tigers get back to such a respectable margin, they were shocking. We were sloppy, but hell, they make some really poor decisions. Reid did really well down back, I thought. Not many other standouts.

Drop Sinclair.

Keefe, Seedsman and Paine have all done enough to keep their spots..

Gee, Fas is coming along very nicely.

And you'd think that Blair has cemented his spot in our best 22.

I think Clarke could really do with a month in the 2nds. Sure, he cold continue the way he is in the seniors and be alright. But he'll be much better if he gets to go back and build his confidence up.

We're still learning when to lose the corridor. (and more importantly, when not to)

For two weeks in a row, both our seniors and seconds have had oppositions run all over them in the 4th. What's going on with our fitness levels? (and please please please, don't even try any of that 'we're aiming to peak in September' rubbish).

Collingwood FC twitter:

"@Collingwood_FC: According to Director of Football Geoff Walsh, Chris Tarrant suffered "bad cramp" in his calf during the first quarter #gopies"

In short we have no depth. None of the young players are nowhere near ready for AFL footy. Reminds me a bit of when we through Ben Reid in at a very early age, he was terrible. 4 years later he was nominated for the AFL rising star award. Just because you throw a few games at the kids doesnt mean they will be ready later in the year for AFL finals footy.

Show how far we have fallen since 2010 in depth, it really is a joke.

Pretty true. Sinclair and seedsmen simply not good enough.

Dawes needs to lift.

We seriouslly need to get some young talent in this draft... j.thomas sinclair ugle seedsmen all very low draft picks and simply are not gonna get us to be a top 4 team if they become regulars. Trading all those first picks looks like it could start to hurt us. Paine is deffinitly worth keeping, fasolo i think is a gem. Witts yagmoor mooney could all be something. But between them and beams/sidebottom there's a worrying gap of talent.

Geez you'd think we lost the game with all the negativity. You guys have to realise that it's only round 2, it's a long long season, and hopefully we're building towards our peak at the right time. Considering we have a few young fellas, guys coming back from injuries and learning a slightly different game plan with a new coach I'd be taking a comfortable win in round 2.

- Not the biggest fan of Keeffe but really liked his game, both in the defensive contest and with the ball in hand.
- Love Fas' overhead ability.
- Marty Clarke has fitted back in nicely.
- I'm surprised that people couldn't fit Pendles in their top 5, obviously we're all harsh markers when it comes to both he and Swan, but despite a couple of turnovers by foot I thought he was fantastic again.
