Rumour Player Rift at Pies(Rumor from Wayne Carey)

FFS the list Matlhouse inherited was a disgrace. The list Buckley has inherited is at top form premiership winning material. If Buckley was to dismantle the current list becasue the players are 'not listening to him' then its he that has to go not half the bloody playing list.

Considering the competition, we have had a blistering 10 or so years. 4 grand final apperances and winning one and losing the other 3 to teams that will go down in history as being amongst the greatest of all time!

Why the hell should we rebuild to attain a list that listens to Buckley? Joke of the highest order.

What I'd like to know is why we're discussing a potential list rebuild on the basis of a rumor started by the person with the third least integrity in the game (behind Thomas and Mifsud)

Good point about Carey, if it's true that Bucks has lost 6/7 players thane he doing better than Carey who had a whole club against him.

carey is still cut tania(buckley) turned him down at a nightclub, she was with bucks at the time and it was in front of about 25 footballers, always thinks with his d!#k so will always be a d!#khead....

His opinion means nothing, he has 10 other reporters call his bluff, lyon had a big dip at him on classifieds... hang on lyon was at the club that night...mmmmm

There may well be players not enamoured to Bucks like they were with Mick, I have no doubt that's probably correct. Rift would probably be too strong a word though.
My advice, stiff shit. Suck it up and get on with it, you're paid very well to perform very well, on and off the field. Don't like it? **** off to GWS.

Since when did Wayne's opinion matter?

4 easy matches to come and you'll be 5-2.

Losing by 10 goals to Carlton isn't the end of the world! :)

Yeah its hilarious how many people out there probably think Collingwood is in some sort of strife and Melbourne are going along nicely based on what they read. They almost beat Hawthorn, beat us in second gear without looking interested.

Carey had a fatherly relationship with Pagan but plenty of players around him would have found Pagan the hard nosed prick who they wouldnt think to socialise with. They would still rate him as a coach highly and wouldnt have wanted to play elsewhere. I dont think its healthy if a younger player "gets along" with his coach. Better to keep it a coach player relationship.

Need to be concious of the fact that Carey is still working his way back into football media. He would earning less money today than he has for much of his life and will be looking to get a Foxtel gig.

Just on this, I tweeted this on Sunday about it to Triple M, why would Dane Swan re-sign with Collingwood last year for less money than he could get at GWS or even the GCS if he & Buckley hated each other?

I know that when Swan was in that trouble early on Buckley said a few words to him about stuffing up like that, but since then I think (from what I'm told) they're at least on ok terms.

I honestly think this has been blown up into something bigger than it actually is, players could have requested a trade, or not sign a new contract if they were so unhappy with the decision that Bucks would take over from Mick this year.

If this has any truth in it though, the players, as professionals, should just put up with it. No other club is going to want to recruit them if all they do is spit the dummy if something doesn't go their way. They get paid so much money, it's really not worth not getting on with the coach. Sure you can dislike him, but they should keep that to themselves.

I like where you are going with this my yellow and black friend.

Why doesn't carey worry about north melbourne and what goes on with them????oh thats right they cant trust him so he is banned...The guy is a proven lying scumbag. Dont get me wrong he was a champion of the game but nothing he says can be trusted. He hates buckley so he would love trying to bring him down.i have no time for his comments and whether they are true or not i do not care. The boys are unsettled naturally and he is just making it into a "rift" story so he can get more exposure as a media person.

This is the same Carey that :
  • Left his club in disgrace after being discovered having an affair with his best mates wife
  • Couldn't keep his assistant coaching gig at the Pies a few years ago because he was unreliable
  • Glassed his ex in a restaurant
  • Was arrested in disgrace overseas while fighting cops
  • Admitted to being an alcoholic
  • Admitted to having a cocaine habit
  • Had numerous run ins with the law during his AFL career also
  • Was managed by another disgraced AFL figure

Yeah, Carey's a reliable and trusted source.
****ing squid should cough up names or shut up, even Ablett senior has more credibility outside the game these days.

You're suggesting Mick built the list, not the recruiting staff, that Mick oversaw the fitness and conditioning, not Butters. The list is the list the club built.

I would have thought it pretty obvious that assistants like Scott, Watters and Neeld all had very significant impacts on our player development and game plan. In 2009 our around the boundary game plan was roundly criticised - notably by Leigh Matthews - as capable of getting us to the finals, but not winning a flag.

I call that game plan the 'reverse induction oven'. We took so long to get the ball in that when it finally got there, it was driven right back through the middle which was left unoccupied by our players. It took some bright spark to decide to swamp the fwd line so that wouldn't occur.

Talking of inheritance, what Buckley was bequeathed was a redundant game plan that was nutted out by others in 2011. He has to do it and the players will find they need time to adjust. It's other teams which have forced the issue by nutting it out.

With the quick kicking to the forward line, our defence is forced to contest more one-on-ones. They need to adjust and some will be found out in the new terrain. Those issues will be addressed by Buckley in good time, but blaming him for that is shrill bollocks.

This is an excellent analysis of the evolving game plan with compelling reasons to support Bucks, Time will pass and the team will either win or lose, and players will thrive or bust in the new environment. If Leigh Mathews thought we could not win a GF with MM's game plan, Bucks must deliver a devious game plan of his own. Seems logical but exciting as well.

The first act this week should be the demotion of Sinclair, our lowest disposal winner with 4. Then Buck's plan will gain credibility.

Carey has always been an absolute tool...I am sure many of us older, Melbourne based people can give honest, "been there" examples...., maybe we should just turn this into a dissing WC thread? INSTEAD of dissing the team we supposedly love (and he hates) JMOI

Yeah, I dont think we'll see Sinclair this week. Firstly because he had a stinker last week and secondly because Port don't have a number of pacey players to try and negate. Maybe shouldn't have played Sinclair against Carlton, but there were slender speedy options available.

However, Buckley is looking to replicate Geelong's strategy of getting at least four games from our entire list. It may have to be adjusted, but it's a good idea in general. You find out which players have it and also build experience and depth - hopefully some trade sweeteners.

Bucks is having to improvise in very telling circumstances. Even if the 2010 game plan was still relevant, we have serious cattle and depth issues (again which he inherited after us shedding @26 players over the last two years and nabbing some older role players like Ball and Jolly).

It was well worth the investment spending early picks to nab Jolly and Ball. But we kid ourselves if we think we can simply will ourselves over the line. We have very serious personnel deficiencies at the same time as we are trying to update an outmoded game plan which exposes certain valuable players, for now.
