Its a bit of fun and a bit of different promoting. I'd much rather both clubs have fun with this sort of thing compared to 5AA pandering to lying ****wits who claim persistent violence at Showdowns and who seem to do what they can to make sure people DONT go to games.

Cornes, KG, and, to a slightly lesser extent, Rowe can shoulder almost all the blame for turning the Showdown from a showpiece event, into the near farce it has become today, and for the very reason you've mentioned.

It's also a bit of the stuff we want to see from the club finally. It'll give a push to those supporters who feel like the clubs standing up for itself finally to get along, oh look what they are saying that's awesome, lets go and give some shit to the crows etc etc

It is also goading all of those Port supporters who don't go to Showdowns because they "hate playing them".

I hope we don't have any supporters who have this abnormal backwards mentality. That is a feel good bird franchise way of thinking. Why would we hate beating a team we've had the record over for ages now.. that we are better than..?

Well they've got to feel something, it's not like we've had the August/September feel-good factor to hang our hats on and boost our crowds for a while.

I think its more peopel are scared of losing these days, they dont want to go if their team doesn't win. This has usually been a Crows supporter attitude (the general not the diehard) and I think when it comes to playing each other a lot of people won't go unless they think they will win, stupid I know.

its smart marketing. Its easier to get few % more from the crows large supporter base that are not going.. than to increase the % going of our smaller supporter base.

We have plenty of supporters that don't go to Showdowns because they "hate playing them". It has nothing to do with hating beating them, which by the way we haven't done a whole lot of lately.

The best way to mobilise our supporter base is to create hype, interest and banter about the showdowns. These ads do it perfectly. Port supporters love these ads and it gets them talking about the showdowns.

And as soon as a Port supporter uses the context of the ad to rib a Crows supporter guess what the immediate response will be....

So you are going then are you?

Andrew 'Controversial' Capel is at it again lol

"Last week against Geelong, the Power controversially picked seven captains to lead it into battle after all five members of its leadership group were sidelined through injury."

That photo is brilliant.

Wouldn't surprise me if both clubs have some part to play in the ads. All a bit of banter to build up the rivalry again and maximise crowd numbers. Although as packed as it could possibly be, I still expect to be told that there were only 35K there

The ads are obviously targeting both groups, but I'd say they target us even more than Crows supporters.

It gets people sharing the photo on facebook, showing people at work, and gets the banter happening, which leads to interest, which leads to a crowd.

This series of ads has been some of the best marketing the club has done

love this kind of light-hearted banter

this guy has "Adelaide Football Club est 1860" in his signature so the fact that he doesn't mind the name camry crows is somewhat understandable

also is there one of those cheeky ads in the paper again today? I flicked through a paper at the servo and couldn't quite believe the 19th man one was in there I am quite proud, it's nice and antagonizing. They really did get bogans calling and texting 5AA with the most braindead stuff imaginable, "that just makes me angry and not wanna go", good luck getting through life if that's how weak you are crowies!

I always find it amusing that both Crows and Port supporters use what they hear from listners of 5AA as ammunition against each other, and then apply the thoughts of a few nuff nuffs who call talk back radio at 4pm to an entire supporter base.

nuffs? your core supporters deserve more respect

I find it sad that anyone listens to 5AA

Well unfortunately many of your fellow Port BF posters (and mine) do, just look at the response to Taylor Walkers suspension and the 5AA reactions, apparently this represents the AFCs entire supporter base.

I agree with you entirely, this is my point.

Simba proved it perfectly! I doubt either clubs core supporters are phoning in to talk back am radio at 4:30pm in the afternoon though, yet nuff nuffs think these people are the clubs "core supporters" and spokespeople, its absurd really.

Most of these callers are unemployed bogans with nothing better to do, yet we are supposed to be the chardonnay sipping easter suburban snobs.

I think you'll find going by their ratings that most of your fellow supporters infact do listen and call in. Judging by the comments on your board and the radio I don't know how you can say your core supporters don't ring up 5AA, I really doubt many listen in on here except to do what I do, tune in about 3 times a year for 20 - 30 minutes when I know a meltdown is imminent as it's comedy gold as how backwards you people are.

Here's a test, go take the Port ad from the paper and randomly show it to crows people in the street and 99% will have the same reaction as the 5AA people, they'll go on like someone's run over their dog.

Personally speaking I've never seen your supporter base as "Chardonnay sipping eastern suburbs snobs". I'm sure you have them though, just as I'm sure we do.

To me the generic Crow supporter is your typical cashed up private schooled bogan who thinks that pathetic huge "Adelaide's Worst Vegetarian Restaurant" banner hanging up outside the Stag Hotel, or those "Hampstead......err, Beefstead Hotel" radio ads are hilarious.

Just sayin'.

Roo is about to break a Port Adelaide "bombshell" about a player apparently.

Initially said its bad news for Port & good news for Crows so I was assuming a big name out for the showdown, but now wondering whether he thinks someone's played their last game ?
