The defensive responses in this thread are getting farcical. 'Had his arm before he hit the turf', so what has this got to do with yanking the arm? - oh I forgot, to apparently stop him handballing for 15 minutes o_O

Never been a fan of Judd, and have been disgusted as much as anyone at how moist some in the media have been throughout the years over the golden boy, but seriously this issue, in isolation, has been blown so far out of proportion its quite obvious a mass hysteria has distorted otherwise sound minds. Deserves one week for stupidity. But you'll get your lynching it seems.

Geez mate, that's far too emotional a response.

I thought Wellingham should have got 6 weeks for caving Simmo's face in; in no way did I say Judd's punishment should parallel the incredibly lenient sentence he received.
"incredibly lenient" meaning 1/6 less than you thought he should get

The hysteria is over on the Blues board actually, some quite impressive delusions there.

I guess an arm grab is worth as much as breaking Simpson's face because you have a good record. o_O

What a croc.

Apparently Judd knows how to pop a shoulder out by grabbing the wrist and elbow.

Adams' shoulder is as suspect as Jamison's. The tribunal will need to consider if it dislocated again after Collins bumped him going for the ball.

Next time, Judd should sling Adams into the turf like Sidebottom did to Mclean. Or drive Adams into the turf like Lonergan did to Carrazzo to break said shoulder. The AFL just pick and choose based on the media attention and how many Helen Lovejoys get on their soap box. The damage is just an after thought.
The world feels for you at this dark hour.

I agree, he had his arm a fraction of a second before he hit the ground, he had him gripped by the bicep in the crook of the elbow.

BUT. What damns Judd is he had no need to move his hand down onto patch's wrist, lift and twist.
Controlling the wrist is a basic jiu jitsu principal because its the furthest point of the 'lever' and thus easier to control and do damage.

If Judds intention was to stop a handball as he claims, he had absolutely zero need to move his hand from the bicep where he had perfectly fine control of the situation. What he did was intentional and malicious no matter what spin he trys to put on it.

Seriously, id like to hear someone tell me why the grip he has here wasn't enough and why he should feel the need to move his grip to the wrist, and following that wrench the arm back.

Yeah right Adams could easily handball in that situation.

All he needs to do is break Judd's grip, free his other arm, break the tacklers grip on the ball, throw off Judd and the tackler then stand up and he's free to handball away.

Judd was just being careful.

From the mouth of Mark Fraser on the MRP:

"Unsportsmanlike in nature... has the potential to bring the game into disrepute"

"In this case, there was an exacerbation of an injury"

For those who believe pre-existing injury doesn't hold sway, there's your proof that it does.

Judd is so gone.

I'm not being hysterical but this is the worst act I've seen on the footy field this year.

He has intentionally pulled his arm back and dislocated his shoulder. He is trying to cause pain and injury in a player and it has nothing to do with preventing a handball. Way worse than what Wellingham or anyone else has done, I reckon he should cop 8 weeks given his bad record.

CHRIS Judd’s 'chicken wing' tackle was so unsportsmanlike that only an AFL Tribunal hearing could decide what punishment it should bring.

That was the verdict of match review panel chairman Mark Fraser, after the dual Brownlow medallist faced the prospect of a hefty penalty and no option of an early plea following the now infamous incident involving North Melbourne’s Leigh Adams on Friday night.

Fraser told the league website the potential of Judd’s actions to bring the game into disrepute tipped the balance.

“We looked at it very closely, had a discussion amongst the panel … and we talked about rough conduct and misconduct,” Fraser said.

“In the end we thought it was best served under misconduct, it was unsportsmanlike in nature and has the potential to bring the game into disrepute.

“We certainly did (consider grading it ourselves) but we did not think it was conduct covered in the table of offences particularly well.”

North Melbourne’s medical report into the incident was understood to have said Judd may have partially dislocated Adams’ shoulder in the second quarter incident.

Fraser would only say the wrench of the arm aggravated an existing injury being carried by the Kangaroos’ man.

“The medical we take into consideration … in this case there was an exacerbation of an injury, and he did have to go from the ground and get treated,” Fraser said.

“There was enough force in there to have something done about it.”

I love it when justice is served to those that deserve it.

Ohh dear, go and have a cup of green tea
As Juddy said to one of the journalists "Relax".

I forgot the arm was sacrosanct

I think those pictures above should put an end to any suggestion that the damage was caused by a North player dragging Judd off Adams. Jeez, look at the angle his arm is being held at. I think it also shows that it went far beyond preventing him handballing.

Maybe Judd was trying to prevent him from handballing... again this year. Filthy behaviour.

Robbo on 360 reckons he is going to plead GUILTY.

Only option to save whats left of his repuation, but not good for the sentance.

What exactly he pleads guilty to is the key, but if it is to intentionally causing harm to the shoulder, look out.
