Unless we can snag an AFL ready ruckman as appropriate backup, i'm not willing to have Goldstein (who didn't exactly light the world on fire last year) play by himself with a 194cm Rookie and another rookie that looks 194cm as a backup.

And if Collingwood or Geelong get in Hamish's ear with the promise of more senior opportunities, do you tell him "sorry mate, even though you're 28 with a fragile body, Goldstein may go down so wait 12 months until you're a free agent, thanks"...?

I wouldn't endorse offering him around for whatever we can get, but this is probably the last year he'll have any market value and there's a possibility he may request a move. If that's the case it's not hard to find a big bodied guy running around in the state leagues who is happy to sit in the VFL - think Giles.

If Goddard would accept 2.4m over 3 years to come to North I'd be fine with that. Front end as much of it as possible. I think people are underestimating how much better he'd make us.

:thumbsu:

He is overpriced up until his first 30 possession, 2 goal, game winning performance from half back.

850k for 4 years would be a lot to pay but we'd recoup that pretty quickly when our membership hit 40,000.

Didn't i say all along he'd be a great buy for that price? ;)

0% chance of goddard coming to arden street. Remember guys theres some bad blood there. With what bj said about the Ziebell/Crywoldt incident a last year and his off the ball hit on Wrighty this year. Wont happen dont want the scumbag in blue or white no matter how good he is.

As for Hamish, im all for keeping him but if we get a deal to good to refuse then we should jump at it.

BUT THINK OF THE SUPERCOACH POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

We already have enough medium sized half backs.

We don't need another one at $850K

Ok, time to have my say in all this.

North Melbourne Football club don't trade Hamish u imbeciles, u can't Guarantee goldy won't get injured and majak's not ready yet and if u for 1 second think about getting Dawson simpson or seaby, I will have a spazzing fit, btw Goddard's a good move

If we want a past prime star that's now not a star but maybe he could be a star again, but id take caddy in a flash campbell.

Peace out ;doing the peace out signal with my hands;

Anthony out, Goddard in. 800k seems like a bargain when you put it like that.

Not really. They are both seagulls. The main difference is one is an elite user of the ball and the other has a 9 iron as a leg.

Goddard of 2009/10 was worth 800K. Goddard of 11/12 not even half that, a few StK people I know are happy to see him go (at the price) he has been so disappointing.

He was one of the best 2 or 3 players in the comp back then. 800k would've been a bargain. He's a victim of the high standard he sets.

He's not a seagull. Don't be ridiculous.

The idea that he's a flanker is well off the mark. He plays his best footy as an inside mid.

Yes he might have been top 5 3 years ago.

He would struggle to be top 50 now - do you watch him play? He looks much slower, doesn't get his own ball (hence Seagull comment), and abuses the **** out of his teammates.....but kicks it very well. 800K for that?

If you think he is worth it that's fine, but from what I have seen he simply isn't elite these days.

I doubt it. Barrassi said Plugger should be de-registered by the AFL for caving in Craven's head, the following year they were team mates.

He's a total seagull, this year ecspecially. He's soft, Lazy, Arrogant simply not what i want in my team thats for sure.

The AFL were behind Lockett's move to Sydney, and his pay packet. Barassi, at the time , was a coach. A coach in a city where the AFL were basically bloodthirsty in getting a foothold in. Even if they hadn't put whatever difference they had aside, and I'm sure they did anyway (all of a sudden a club on a shoe string is getting highly rated/highly paid players), he would've done what he was told.

Just saying there is one rule for plebs and another rule for guns. I doubt a few minor words would be the breaking point. It is just unlikely that are the right fit.

Anything can happen.....things are forgiven when opponents become team-mates.....ala Lance Picone and Jess Sinclair incident..

Trading our only gorilla defender doesn't make a lot of sense, unless they think Cam Delaney or Kennedy can fill that role. But those guys don't have the kilos yet.
Problem for Luke is his closing speed.

I wonder (but can't be bothered checking) if the same people thinking Goddard is a good idea are the same people who thought Drummond was a good idea. It is not 2009 anymore people.

Could we try to keep this to Hamish and a possible deal please guys? We have a megathread for all other discussion, :thumbsu:. Cheers
