In a statement today, Victoria Police said: “Victoria Police Fraud and Extortion Squad is currently assessing a file which relates to the alleged misappropriation of funds from a union.​

The Vic police investigation continues to gather evidence.

Last night, the retired Labor MP (Bob Smith, former Labor MP and AWU Victorian state secretary) confirmed he'd been approached by Victorian fraud squad detectives investigating the union scandal.

"I am responding to their request for a statement," Mr Smith said. Victorian police are investigating claims of union fraud after former official Ralph Blewitt provided a 10-page statement to police two weeks ago.

However, the EVIDENCE is already out there with Gillard, as it is with Thomson, as it is with Mark Abib, as it is with Eddie Obeid, as it is with Williamson. It will be fascinating to see if the law does there bit or will they be protected as they are powerful labor politicians.I reckon Abib will get off, the others...we will have to wait and see.

Gillard created faulty accounts, kept it hidden from her partners, there is documented proof that she went to WA to ensure people signed up to Wilson's dodgy fund etc etc,. You can't back peddle out of this evidence once it is there. Gillard has consistently lied on everything including the AWU account.

The only thing Clinton consistently lied about was oral sex. Also, they didn't find any evidence that could implicate him, so really the comparison is null and void despite the wishes of the fanboys.

You must be illiterate. There is no criticism of Abbott in that article, and she does not suggest that Abbott should be taking an alternative course of action. She suggests that the issue is doing serious damage to the credibility of unions.

You're taking liberties on so many fronts that it's laughable. Woodward and Bernstein were journalists. Bolt and Smith write opinion pieces. Only one of these groups tends to deal in facts. Do you understand the difference? As to any issue you have with lying, perhaps you're waiting for Godot, (your writings make as much sense) and hence when you find God(ot) you will also be able to identify when you're hearing "the gospel truth":

Put away your pom-poms for a minute, FANBOI, and think about this... in this thread we are discussing happenings from 20 years ago relating to Wilson, Blewitt and our Prime Minister, and how a "slush fund" was established by the WA branch of the AWU, and subsequently rorted by Wilson and Blewitt. At issue is whether Ms Gillard knowingly benefited in any way from the establishment of this fund, or had any immediate knowledge of Wilson and Blewitt's intent.

Irrelevant to this topic are, amongst other things: Thomson, Arbib, Obeid, Williamson, Clinton.

If you could stay on topic for just one post I think the rest of us would really appreciate it.

They waited until they actually uncovered a crime before publishing a word too, they didn't report innuendo and smear on the basis of "questions" that need asking. The asked the questions, got the answers and THEN went public. You know, what real journalists, not gutter dwelling gossip mongers, do.
